Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

How long of a wait for Local Authority Housing?

    Hi guys

I am currently receiving JSA for the last couple of years (part time in college also) and I must vacate the house I'm currently in by September. It's a family owned home so my rent is minimal.
I can't afford to rent in private accommodation, so I thought I would apply for local authority housing. Does anyone know how long a wait is for such accommodation (a guesstimate)? I am currently in Sligo town and live alone.

    Thank you

Your best bet is to call your local council's housing department and ask, as waiting vary widely from council to council. For example, I was told (don't quote me! :)) that it's a question of months in Cavan and around seven or eight years in some of the Dublin council areas.

If you are single, you are likely to be very low priority for Local Authority housing. But there's no harm in asking. If you don't fancy calling in to the LA office, you could enquire from the local Citizen's Information centre.

    HI, thanks for the replies.
Yeah I intend to call in tomorrow. I should have done this ages ago, as the owner always intended on moving back. I suppose better late than never! :)
