When you think about it, it's basically Barcelona with a few players thrown in from the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea & Man City vs a collection of players from Aston Villa, Stoke, Sunderland & Wolves.

Russian fans are being "investigated". Apparently they put 4 stewards in hospital after the Czech game and were racially abusing a Czech player.

Good job FIFA didn't do something stupid like award them the world cup...

All this negativity about the Spain match is really getting on my nerves at this stage. All this doom 'n gloom is out of order. The whole country should stand up and be counted and get behind the lads.

Yeah - a bit like when UEFA awarded England Euro 96, and then England came to Dublin and...

But if England weren't stripped of euro 96 after rioting at heysel, euro 88, italia 90, euro 92, even afterwards they were rioting at france 98 (v tunisia), euro 2000 (charleroi) ffs.

So I suspect if England are anything to go by Russia are still quite safe.

Heysel was 11 years before Euro 96.

The thing is, England were't the only fans doing it. Should Italy have been stripped of the 1990 world cup? Holland in 2000?

Why do people STILL insist on this hooliganism thing? It's not the early 80s/early 90s any more and the there hasn't been major trouble from English fans in any of the last 5 major tournaments at least.

I know and I commend the FA for that.

But I just find hypocritical when some England fans make a big deal out of Russia's and eastern europes problems getting awarded international tournaments when England weren't, at that stage, in any great shakes themeselves with behaviour at that time.

That doesn't mean we should ignore Russia/Eastern Europes problems either of course, but just saying.
