Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Yeah, hopefully the police will be on top of things though. They've been billing it as the 'biggest security operation' in the city's history.

Those part time police looked fairly sh!tty on any of the youtube vids that popped up from during the week. Hopefully that was just isolated tho and no one will get hurt or killed if it all kicks off.

Match will be a cracker alright.

Edit: it looks like a feckin war zone on the news already.

So does that make them second in the group then? I'm drunk and not very good at maths
Edit: no, clearly not, was giving them 3 points for their first game :o

Why does kenny cunningham have the lapel of his jacket tucked in? Lack of experience there Bill, he's gone and let his lapel get inside him.

Russians are determined to take the old role of the English as Europe's football hooligans.

Delighted for Ukraine, dunno why but I found myself saying YES when they equalised.

My wife being from Ukraine and Ireland looking very shaky I have to get behind Ukraine to win :D. Goan ya good things!

Plus ordinary Ukrianians can really do with a lift like this.

    Удачи Украины!

    Anyone hopeful about tomorrow's game?

When you think about it, it's basically Barcelona with a few players thrown in from the likes of Real Madrid, Chelsea & Man City vs a collection of players from Aston Villa, Stoke, Sunderland & Wolves.

Not that big of an ask, then.

Let Croatia win the group, we’re gonna beat spain and then italy.
Losing the first game will spur the team on.
The Irish always perform best when they are the underdogs.

I'm going to take Poland and Ukraine as my teams for the rest of the tournament, great passion and performances from each nation to fight for survival. Something sorely lacking in our crowd the other night, I'm still very upset over that.

Russian fans are being "investigated". Apparently they put 4 stewards in hospital after the Czech game and were racially abusing a Czech player.

Good job FIFA didn't do something stupid like award them the world cup...

All this negativity about the Spain match is really getting on my nerves at this stage. All this doom 'n gloom is out of order. The whole country should stand up and be counted and get behind the lads.

    my prediction : Spain 6 Ireland 0

Yeah - a bit like when UEFA awarded England Euro 96, and then England came to Dublin and...

But if England weren't stripped of euro 96 after rioting at heysel, euro 88, italia 90, euro 92, even afterwards they were rioting at france 98 (v tunisia), euro 2000 (charleroi) ffs.

So I suspect if England are anything to go by Russia are still quite safe.

Heysel was 11 years before Euro 96.

The thing is, England were't the only fans doing it. Should Italy have been stripped of the 1990 world cup? Holland in 2000?

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

Why do people STILL insist on this hooliganism thing? It's not the early 80s/early 90s any more and the there hasn't been major trouble from English fans in any of the last 5 major tournaments at least.

I know and I commend the FA for that.

But I just find hypocritical when some England fans make a big deal out of Russia's and eastern europes problems getting awarded international tournaments when England weren't, at that stage, in any great shakes themeselves with behaviour at that time.

That doesn't mean we should ignore Russia/Eastern Europes problems either of course, but just saying.
