The bad gunplay doesn't really bother me, the way they've pitched this thing is like they're trying to go for open world Deus Ex. I doubt that you can get anywhere near close to that cause games like Deus Ex are what they are cause of how focused and constrained they are versus how vast this thing is, but if that's what they're going for I don't really mind if the gameplay is a bit ****. I'm in it for the immersive world building and RPG specialisation

Which I'm still all really sceptical of, well anyway my 3070 is ready to go. Let me see those ray traced shadows

Because everybody in real life just hipfires and never aims down the sights????

People don't double in size when they eat mushrooms either. Realism isn't and shouldn't be the goal in video games IM humble O. I really dislike having 1/3 of the screen obscured by a gun when ADS amongst other things. Unenjoyable mechanic altogether.

Keep in mind most open world games are never the best in there field with certain mechanics for instance the gunplay in gtav is ass rockstar even knows it’s ass because they make auto aim the default setting

Almost every mechanic in GTA and Rockstar games is ass. Controlling your character in GTAV and RDR2 is like steering a boat.

Not sure about RDR2 but the first person mode in GTA5 is absolutely horrific.

    Feels like playing underwater.

GTA is very bad for character control but I'd say RDR2 is good.

If someone is playing first person on GTA they'd need to really mess with the default controls, the default dead zone for the sticks is huge and you'd want to mess with sensitivity and acceleration.

I messed with it a lot to do the target range challenges in GTA online, those don't have any auto aim so you really have to mess with the controls from the defaults.

The fidelity and detail of the world is obviously staggering and from what we've seen so far a fairly generational leap in graphical tech (even if it is targeting last gen machines). Can't help but worry the game is coming across as a fairly shallow pastiche of cyberpunk fiction, which is a criticism I've heard about the source material RPG. All the corporate partnerships (particularly amusing for a cyberpunk game) and the game's obsession with style do raise alarm bells in that regard. But it's hard to tell from what is ultimately marketing material, and hopefully the game has a bit more depth to it than just a surface level of extremely pretty cyberpunk tropes.

BOTW is like I want to go everywhere cause it's so.much fun and effortless. Trees, mountains, buildings., ... Walking, running, gliding, shield surfing, horses.

RDR2 is like oh FFS I need to go where now ? Again!

Some people go their hands on the game leak or disc copies out there, so there's spoilers and footage about.

I'd be dead curious to see how this build from september is running without the day 1 patch.

Apparently looks to run okay even on a base PS4 although he's stream quality was questionable. I read the guy playing was stoned and kept crashing into things, not the best showcase of the game. I'm gonna hold out and avoid it anyway.

Hopefully that bodes well for the PS5 version. TBH I'd be happy with a stable 1440p and 30 FPS, wouldn't be surprised if the Pro version was only managing 1080p.

Ha, apparently the leak video is the base ps4 showing the character creation and opening of nomad so this was cdpr's way of showing the same footage on higher spec machines with patches.

I'm sure my base PS4 is going to sing the song of its people when I play this.

Gotta say, the two console videos they’ve released now have been fairly useless. No sense of how the base PS4/XONE run it; no firm details on the enhancements for the next-gen consoles (slightly better reflections, maybe?); a lack of like-for-like or side-by-side footage making the comparisons that are there meaningless. Add that through YouTube’s iffy compression and honestly it’s all a bit redundant.

Hopefully they’ll be more forthcoming with details before release. If the frame rate was unlocked to take advantage of PS5 I’d definitely look at getting that... but would be more inclined towards PC if there’s no real substantial advantage to playing the PS4 version on PS5 (at least until the next-gen version comes out).

I'll wait for Digital Foundry's verdict on how janky, or non-janky, it'll be on the base PS4.

Don't think you need to be told that unless you have a One X or PS4 Pro to avoid it on last gen as it will likely badly struggle to hit 30fps on base systems, may be 900p or below that too.

Its not going to get anywhere near 900p on the XB1, I'm guessing 720p with drops to barely maintain the framerate. PS4 version probably won't be much better.

If you were planning to upgrade at any point in the next year or so I would recommend you just wait. The base console versions were apparently the cause of the latest delay so I wouldn't be expecting much from them.

Their reluctance to showing base console performance is disappointing. I get that they want to show the game off in the best way possible, but if it runs terribly on base consoles then there's gonna be a huge backlash. It'll probably look fine though. I was suprised by how well xbox one x and ps4 pro looked to be honest.

It's also annoying that they're saying the next gen upgrade is coming 'sometime' in 2021. Does that mean within 3 months? 6 months?

I mean, it doesn't affect me because i'm going to buy it on day one. I respect people's discipline when they say they'll wait until the next gen upgrade arrives :D

Even if they did date it, would you even believe it?

They are probably better off not locking it down until they know its ready.

One issue with both the xbox and ps4 videos is they have had the driver drive extremely slow. I think it's only in the Series X footage you see them drive fast.

Question is are they trying to hide stutter due to the slow Jaguar cores and mechanical drives in the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Even on PC the minimum requirements say HDD but in parentheses say you probably should still play on SSD

I think graphics and resolution aren't the big question here, it's drawing in all that density and detail quickly

I think all 3 of them are the big question tbh. I hope to be surprised but I reckon the base PS4 and XB1 versions will resemble TW3 on Switch more than CP 2077 on the other platforms.

God, the naysayers are hillarious. This game is already delivering entertainment and it hasn't even shipped yet.
