    It's only 18 shopping days until the Midsummer Solstice - the grandest of all stretches in the evening - and to celebrate Whelanslive will be bringing you a quite marvellous selection of some of the finest Irish acts currently on the live circuit. The Sounds Of Summer Festival is a 4-day musical extravanganza across two venues and will also feature a number of free shows which is our way of thanking you wonderful people for your custom so far this year.

    This kicks off tonight. Unfortunately Cathy Davey is no longer playing at this but there's still a weekend of great Irish music to be had.
