    Hi Guys,

I'm currently working on a new project at work where we have thousands of individual files in our filing room. These files are regularly taken in and out from the filing room to the employee's desk. As you can imagine, they dont always get put back and the files end up going missing or other employees are unable to find them when they go looking in the filing room.

Does anyone have any suggestions (even if very basic) to help keep control of where every file in the building is at any given time.

    Thanks.

the most very basic and reliable way would be a big ledger book, when file is taken it's written in book with reference no etc and the employee signs and dates their name against the reference number. when they return the file they sign it again and the date it was returned

Just sometimes the older ways are the better ways :)
