Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Mertens is some prima donna.

    Glen Johnson is atrocious.

    You're not wrong there.

Belgium so much more hungry to get to the ball and play with tempo and they aren't the ones who are going to the championships.

Micah Richards is twice the player that Johnson is. It's the one big selection mistake Roy has made.

    This is shocking.

    Another late tackle from parker

    Jesus England are shocking.

    This is so stop-start.

Very scrappy game. Parker probably would have been sent off already if it wasn't a friendly.

Dire, hopefully Rooney gets a run out

I think clive tyldesley really likes this Aidan Azar guy :p

Looks like England, plays like England. Enough said.

I never realised how poor England are to watch.

We play better football. Atleast both our wingers have a go and create chances when they get the ball. England create 2 chances per game. It's horrendous.

  • Banned (with Prison Access) Posts: 32,865 ✭✭✭✭MagicMarker

And THAT'S why Welbeck should be ahead of Carroll.

I disagree, at times we play awful awful boring football.

Get in Danny! Delighted for him.

    Nice finish by Wellbeck

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,084 ✭✭✭✭Kirby

I hate the term because it's overused......but that finish was world class.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,465 ✭✭✭kitakyushu

That's two games in a row where they've played rubbish but had the individual quality to score a goal. They'll win this game too but that sort of play is going to get them nothing against the top teams.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,397 ✭✭✭✭Turtyturd

Thought Roy was gonna break out a face rub in celebration.

Soooooo funny to listen to people try to argue otherwise

When you see gerrard and parker at club level they look good, move them up to international and ask them to control midfield they are found short

Despite the goal england look very average

Brilliant finish. Nice to see from Welbeck

Courtois would have saved that

Typical England friendly. One moment of quality is usually enough.

    Lovely finish.

I reckon this will be the starting 11 for England. Lescott ahead of cahill for me anyways

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,211 ✭✭✭Owen_S

Welbeck and Rooney have already built up a good partnership for Man Utd, England should probably make use of that when Rooney is able to play.

Nice finish, scrappy game so far, Englands midfield is as poor as expected.

I can't see Chamberlain starting. I reckon Downing will play.

There's people who would want Carroll ahead of Welbeck?

    Roy.

And people who would want Downing ahead of The Ox.

Young has been poor, but I'd take off Oxlade and stick Young out left and bring Rooney on.

Crap first half. Good goal, zero atmosphere apart from the poxy band and the Belgians. Still, only a friendly.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,211 ✭✭✭Owen_S

Those opportunities wouldn't have been created if Welbeck didn't charge down the defender, something which some other strikers rarely do.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,988 ✭✭✭SirDelboy18

He may as well see how Rooney and Welbeck can link up for England. Might allow him not to play Downing

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,636 ✭✭✭✭Tox56

Ox-Chamberlain actually looks threatening when he has the ball, he just hasn't had it enough.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,630 ✭✭✭steelcityblues

Oxlaide Chamberlain looking very green at this level.

    Chiles: The atmosphere is great.

They must have forgotten to turn the effects mikes on then. Cant hear feck all apart from the odd "tune" from the band.

Des Lynam and Steve Rider are so far ahead of him as presenters. Even Lineker is better, too.

I have a friend who is 100% convinced that Grant Holt should be ahead of Welbeck in the squad, never mind the team.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,211 ✭✭✭Owen_S

If Vertonghen lines up a shot, you get the f**k out of the way.

    You're friends with Grant Holt?

I hope Holland vs Republic of Ireland B at 7pm is a bit more exciting than this game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 28,710 ✭✭✭✭Paully D

I can just see Rooney picking up an injury that keeps him out of the Euros here.

Fifa are dropping penalty shootouts and going with a pie-eating contest.

England will definitely do a 'Greece 2004' to try to win the Euros.
