I remember in vice city there was a mission at the mall where you had to smash all the windows of the shops.

I found this really annoying, the cops would come after you and start shooting, there was a time limit and you had to try and remember which shops you had done, so that you were not running around in circles.

On the bright side it did unlock the ability to purchase businesses.

I was on the verge of a nervous breakdown the first time I attempted the Zero RC plane mission. Then I found out it's A LOT easier if you get your pilot's license before attempting it.

Silly me wanting to do the missions as I got them.

Although the difficulty varies between missions I find that sometimes you can get stuck on a particular one that perhaps previously you did effortlessly first time and actually thought was easy - and vice versa. I think you can end up getting so frustrated at endlessly repeating the same bit of game over and over it actually means you're more likely to fail. However I would prefer the next game to return to the difficulty of the older games as although the new generation of GTAs were brilliant they were also too easy. I'd like to have a good mix of easy, medium, hard with the odd near impossible task chucked in for good measure.

The bikes are 100000 times better in TLAD. I can only remember falling off a handful of times, one of which was when I plowed head first into an on coming truck :pac:

I always imagined that was because you're playing as a biker who therefore has a lot more skill on 2-wheels.

Agree on the train mission in SA and the Helicopter mission in IV. Kinda relieved I'm not the only one who struggled with those.

But the one that's killing me is one that I've beaten first time and loads of times, a mission in GTAIII where you snipe guys on a boat whilst 8ball plants a bomb.

Easy enough on PC/console, but I've been trying to do it on iPad and it's been breaking my heart!

It's a main mission as well, so I can't just go off and do the side ones!

It's annoying about the controls on the IPad, cause Chinatown wars (amazing on DS) looks great but I don't want to get it if its unusable.

The mission in San Andreas where you need to follow the train with Big Smoke on the back of the bike.

Seriously the phrase: "All ya had to do was follow the damn train CJ!" is burned into my mind.

I did follow the fuppin train, tubby, you're just have sh*te aim!

I liked the difficulty of IV and it's DLC, just about right for my level of skill.

But the point about passing a mission first time that took ages before happened to me on my current playthrough of IV. The mission where you've to kill Dwayne's ex's new boyfriend was a major pain in the balls when I was first going through, took me ages and ages, and I eventually only managed it by sheer luck. But on this playthrough I killed him on my first attempt. Majorly chuffed so I was.

Was that the one where he's on a motorbike and you've to chase him down?

Got the bike on top of the train and started shooting. Killed three of the four before running out of ammo leaving ONE stationary guy for fatty to kill. He proceeds to shoot everything except him until the bike falls off the train.

"All you had to do was follow the damn train CJ!" How about this, you drive and I'll shoot? We'll be done before we hit that exploding car!

How do people find that mission hard?? I finished it first try, and it was my first try in about 7 years.

Yup. You've the option to kill the girlfriend at the start of the mission as well.

aw that was a brilliant mission!
I shot the girlfriend in the chin and then robbed a car to chase your man down. I lost him after about 30 seconds so i just drove around for about 5 minutes looking down alleys and shít for him, then he came out of nowhere, hit the side of my car and absolutely mangled himself. I calmly got out and executed the fúck out of him.

Makes me wanna play GTA iv again, i never got to finish the original one, only TLAD and TBOGT. they were excellent though.

I let them all live unless they did something to me.

I never shoot her. Think in all my playthroughs |'ve shot her once and regretted it.

Yes but the other 2 problems mean you don't really look at your radar. At least back then, I'm much better at multitasking now.

Dear god I'd forgotten how frustrating the final mission in IV is... I can get the first two parts (the car chase through Alderney and the shootout in the casino) all the time, but I keep messing up the bike chase along the shore. Which means I have to retry and go through the shootout again and again. So irritating. I've gone through it about 15 times today, I always end up crashing the f**king bike. :(

Took me three go's to get past the bike part. First time I took a wrong turn. Second time i missed the ramp at the end but got it third time. The helicopter part only took two attempts.

The shoot out isn't too bad either. The first part (outside the warehouse) is the hardest IMO.

I'm still at it. Fook me... I can't seem to keep enough speed up for the ramp.

Yeah, outside the warehouse is a pain, but you can do it fairly easily by staying in cover behind the car and taking them out with an AK or M4, barely any chance of getting hit while your there.

Some bastard always seemed to be hiding. I'd think I got them all, move forward and have to dive for cover when he pops out of nowhere to start shooting again. Doesn't matter how long you wait, he seems to wait until you are out in the open before he pops up.

Some of them seem to be proximity triggered alright, and there's always one bugger in that hole to the left of the carpark in front of the entrance. :\

    On the brightside...

    Finished!!! :D:D

Just did it there, I floored it heading up the ramp, and nearly shat myself because I thought I was going to miss the chopper. Then I got hit by the rocket, and I was convinced I'd got hit too early and was about to fail, then the cutscene cut in and I was like -> :pac: :pac: wooo!

    Just in case better add
One short shootout later, and Pegorino lies dead at the base of the Statue of Happiness.

Now, to try and 100% this game.

I hate any mission in GTAIV that involves flying helicopters. Damn things are impossible to control, and I'm always ditching them in water or flying them into tall buildings.

+1 on this. Although the real annoying helicopter mission is in TBOGT, the one where you've to follow Packie's car all across almost the entire map. Hated it with a passion.

I loved that one. It's too easy to follow a dot on the radar, having to actually track the car made it a challenge. I got it on my second attempt, lost him in the tunnel the first time. Thought the exit was somewhere else so he was gone before I could find him again. My only problem with the helicopter was the one where you had to blow up the yacht. Incredibly awkward to aim.
