I am playing through GTA SA again, and that damn train mission has me caught. It is so difficult...

I reckon if we started a poll as to the No.1 most hated mission, Wrong Side of the Tracks would come out on top. :pac:

Got it in one the first time i played it in about 6 years, dunno how people got stuck on it!!!

I got it a little different than I used to do.

Used to hop on the back of the train and do it that way but a bridge knocks you off (just before the oncoming train) and Smoke's aim is still crap. It's also down to luck if you get on it or not.

What I did was go to the spot where you hop onto the train but instead got off the bike and managed to kill two of them before they were out of range. Back on the bike and Smoke just about got the other two before running out of track. :D

A stupidly hard mission for so early in the game. Finished the rest of the Los Santos's mission in about half an hour then. That one probably took longer than the rest combinded!

It involves a lot of luck. I cant remember my original play throughs, but my first replay a few months ago I got it on my second attempt. Took me probably 30 attempts this time. Everything else was at most two or three.

Same with me and the choppers in gta4, hated the game but the chopper was awesome, dunno why people had trouble with them. a couple of times i picked up people miles out in the ocean. good times

The wrong side of the tracks is grand to do when CJ is just in the right spot that a far from the train that the bullets don't hit the side and close to it so the bullets hit the targets. Once you have it the mission is no problem

I've played San Andreas many times and Wrong Side of the Tracks got me every time. Then I read on some random GTA forum somewhere that the clue to that mission is in the title, if you ride the bike just to the very right of the track, i.e. The "Wrong Side" of the track to where the train is, then its easy. And it worked.

Zero's missions for me are the hardest in the whole GTA world, luckily you don't need them to progress the story. The first one was hard enough, shooting down the planes but the second was the worst, trying to control the mini aeroplanes, ****ing bastard of a mission that was.

The pilot's licence is tough but doable if you stick to it. I remember my sister and I spending an entire Sunday, 12 or 13 hours straight through doing the pilots licence, we did each test over and over and over again until we got the medal, the hardest ones were circling the airstrip and landing and the one with the helicopter shooting the targets. It was like we were both drunk when we completed it late that night. I played SA a few months ago again and did it in a short time so it was worth it.

I can't remember any real bastards of missions in the GTA IV world. I never found the one in the helicopter with Jacob too difficult. I always got in within 3 or 4 tries. I think probably "I'll need your clothes, you boots and your motorcycle" was probably the one I had most trouble with, it was similar to chasing the guy with OG Loc in San Andreas. I think I figured out that you can't kill them right away so you might as well just concentrate on chasing them and keeping as close as possible until you can shoot them. I think you in the GTA IV one you have to let him get to Albany before you can kill him, although I could be wrong about that

had to youtube the zero missions coz for the life of me i couldn remember then, havent played SA since the year it came out but i do seem to remember has slight trouble with. i think i needed a couple attempts with "wrong side of tracks too" took me nearly a whole summer to finish 100% was sound proud of myself :D but cant bring myself to do it with gtaiv. that was a let down for me after SA. :(

For me, it was any mission that involved a non-player character 'helping' you but if they died you failed the mission. They were usually unbelievably useless and I find it a pity there wasn't an option where you could just tell them to stay in the car while you sorted it on your own. It woulda been so much easier that way.

Like Ryder just standing there when the National Guard are shooting him.

He's grand for me, always shot back. Just his aim was a bit crap, like Smoke.

I know it's not GTA but i remember a mission in Bully where you had to escort some complete pussy through the greasers territory without him getting his teeth kicked in, was ridiculously frustrating because you usually had to take on about 4 or 5 greasers at once while another 2 stamped on the lads chin and knocked the majority of his health off right at the start of the mission, it stopped me from going on in the missions for a couple of weeks when i first got it.

Think i must have got lucky with the wrong side of the tracks mission cause dont remember it causing me too much grief but that bloody mission on the rooftop shooting the model planes has left a permanent mark on my pysche .

That pussy's voice crying over his now exploded satellites really pissed me off, esp since it literally took me 30 attempts to pass it and only then by the skin of my teeth.

The one out in the sticks with the hispanic bird and chasing 3 guys on quads :mad:. One mistkae with a bump and it was mission over. I actually killed first guy early on but took blody ages to retrace my steps and find his suitcase.

Also the one where ya has to kill the crooked white cop, man that guy could drive

That model RC plane mission for Zero, still can't get it done. I've completed every other mission in the game and still that little 'Z' sits there on the minimap mocking me. It's infuriating.

CJ and Big Smoke on a friggin dirtbike trying to get on the bloody train.

    controller flinging frustration it was.

It wouldn't surprise me if R* went and put something similar to Wrong Side of the Tracks in V, just to fcuk with people :pac:

That mission was hard as **** when I first played it. Did it recently and it's not that hard once you figured out the knack of keeping the bike, level/upright to left side slightly facing towards the sky to the bullets hit those esses.

I want some hard mission in GTA. It don't want to just waltz through it.

If you have a machine gun of any kind (that you can fire from the bike) there is an easy way to do it. Fly ahead of the train and get up on a building beside the tracks. When the train comes, drive off and land on the back. You'll probably still have to do the killing as Smoke is awful. The hardest part is getting onto the train as you only have one shot. If I don't get on top, I just let it go and head back to restart it. Used to be able to get it within three attempts. Last time it took me about 30 :o

Yeah, finished my playthrough of GTAIV yesterday. Only died about 11 times and only failed a mission 8 times. It was actually fairly easy, even in the later stages and considering I hadn't played the game in about 2 years. But hey, that's because there wasn't a lot of variety in the GTAIV missions. With new features in GTAV comes more complexity which should make things harder

    I hear ya bro.

Yeah with a combination of new features we should see some nice variety. I can some nice variety in sea-based missions; jet-skiing, scuba-diving etc. I can see more multi-part missions like End of The Line being more prominent. Fly here, kill him and jet-ski upriver and visit someone on Mt Chillian or some ****.

    Can't wait! :D

one mission i hated in SA was the one early in the story where you had to use the fork lift to put stuff in the bobcat and defend it at the same time what a pain in hole

I HATED that mission the first few times I did it. Took about 20 attempts to do it.

Went back and played it recently and passed it first try. :P

I always thought that was easy, especially since they came one at a time. Load a crate, get out and shoot the guard, get the next crate, rinse and repeat.

Assuming it's the same mission we are talking about :pac:

It's a pain, you can't really leave Ryder to look after himself cause they make bits of him.

Finished "wrong side of the tracks" on my second go, delighted with myself!

The next mission "Just Business" with the chase through the sewers is great fun, just absolute mayhem!

In Vice City the mission where you have to save Lance from the scrapyard.
Being guarded by a small army and you have to save him before he bled out.

Near the start? Use the helicopter to kill the guards with the blades. It's simple after that. Took me ages to figure it out but last time I played I had loads of time. Think you get something like six minutes? Whatever it was, I still had over half the time left. Thought I had missed one or something :pac:
