Addin user defined fields to Outlook 2010

I want to add some user defined fields to the outlook contacts. When I set to properties on one of the fields to date i.e. xx/xx/xxxx the value always comes up as none and allows me to enter any value into that field. I also want to be able to set up this date so that it creates a reminder in the calendar. Does anyone know…
