    For me it's a more "I was mildly amused" It's less "vulgar" than :D And less cnutish than :P

    I always use him as a chatty little smiley and put it at the end of a sentence, ie:

    Exactly. I think :D is too emphatic - nothing is ever that funny, except perhaps cat pictures.

    :pac: either means 'this is kinda funny' or else it can connote a joke or remark as being cheeky but without intending to cause any offence, depending on context.
