Think both hosts will go through. I think Denmark will surprise Portugal, I don't like the look of their defence. As for Ireland, I just can't see us doing anything with our midfield, I fancy us the first game to nick a draw though, and finish third on GD. Similar story with England, with Rooney out and Hodgson playing a 4-4-2 with Parker and Gerrard in the middle I don't see them getting up to much either. Their back 5 could save them however.

Semis:
Spain to beat Holland, Dutch defense is too weak, even for Spain's blunt attack.
Germany to beat France. This is one game I'd really like to see, if it did happen Germany should have too much for the French.

Spain to win in a final with plenty of goals.

Being god honest, if we can get 2nd in our group and face England followed by France (or vice versa) the fact of the matter is, we are going to the final, provided Given stays fit and Dunne can avoid suspension and even Westwood has shown to be reasonably capable in Shays absences). England and France will not beat the negative defensive style we have. We would clinically bore both of them to death with a laboured 1-0 in added time, or penalties. The permutations mean that every decent team will canabalise each other en route (Holland, Germany, Spain are the only truly great, probably unbeatable, teams at this tourno, and even Germany and Spain have had some dodgy form lately). I cant see us beating the Dutch or Spain in a final mind, for all the heart our boys will have the likes of RVP are just too good, end of.

Having said that I do rate Hodgson as a manager. Anyone who doesnt recognise he is top class and got dealt a bad hand at Liverpool is dillusional. England will not win but they wont go out in the first round either. Given time to rebuild Hodgson is more than capable of giving the world cup a hell of a run.

But yes. There you have it. Ireland to reach the final and bore neutrals to death with the ugliest most unattractive stye the beautiful game has ever seen :pac:

It is just a crying shame we didnt win our group- if we had secured Russias place in Group A we would walk that group, even with Polands home advantage (they had a warm up against Andorra FFS)

I'm open to correction on this, but I don't think we can face England followed by France with the way the draw is. We would play someone from that group if we qualify from our group but if we won in the QF we would be playing someone from Group A or B in the semis, probably whoever wins Group B.

I dont know why so many people are backing France for a good tourno, tbh I might put a few quid on them not getting out of their group. Alot of people seem to rate them as the best dark horse (bar us of course0. Though it is hard to call, despite all their recent problems England under Hodgson are a reasonable contender for a semi final place (not a win mind, but he is a different class of manager to clowns like Capello. His disgraceful treatment at Liverpool is the primary reason I would describe myself as a former Pool fan, I really couldnt give two sh1tes about them these days after that malarky. Even if they were to go out in the first round, sacking him rather than letting him lead the next campaign would be a grave error)

My predictions were pretty poor. Didn't get any of the groups fully correct, and only predicted 2 of the semi-finalists (Spain and Germany) which were pretty obvious.
