Last year the OPW had this running, and it is still been continued. Every OPW site is free on the first Wednesday of the month. Coming into the holiday season it might be useful to someone who's into heritage stuff.

Here's a link to a pdf for more info http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/media/Free%20Wednesdays.pdf

When I read the title, I thought that for the day, all heritage and references to it were being banned. :)

Thanks OP, I never knew that - not a bad scheme to encourage people to get out and about and enjoy our heritage. Worth having in mind!

First Wednesday of the month again. Think I am going to head somewhere nice even though the weather leaves a lot to be desired:(

Some really good spots to visit on that list - pity it's on a wednesday and not weekends but so be it.

also for info from the site which some may find useful:

    Heritage Card

    The cards cost as follows:

Adult €21.00. Senior (60 years and over) €16.

    Student (valid student ID required) / Child (6 - 18 years) €8.00

Family €55.00 (Max. 2 adults & a reasonable number of children under 18 years)

    http://www.heritageireland.ie/en/Info/HeritageCards/#d.en.974

Some Environment sites used to accept these cards too unofficially but it's been years since I had to one.
