comic in 90's like the hobbit

Hello, just trying to remember a comic that came out in the early 90's where the main character starts off wondering in a cave. Does anyone have any idea of the comic? Sorry can't remember much more but in the back you had a puzzle where you have to try count the amount of times a bug appeared throughout the issue

Twas a great series, I have the lot, bar the last issue of the second series
