Using a Headset to Record?

Ok, so I just picked up this headset.

The mic quality is perfect for what I want, and had no trouble recording something.

The only problem is, when I set it up so that I could actually hear myself in the headphones there is a slight delay which is very distracting.

I set it up in the control panel device settings, and not in (for example) Audacity throughput settings (which had a much worse delay).

Is there any way to fix this?
