I love the silenced pistol. Using thay and taking down people cover to cover is quite satisfying

Had quite a bit of fun with it tonight. I've given up on cars and I just walk everywhere when I can. It's so voyeuristic to stroll down the street and listen to the various conversations then duck down a dark alley and beat the **** out of a mugger.

The hideout missions are fun for fairly open ended stealth. The silenced pistol in particular is very satisfying in this regard.

    Still on Act 1 too.

Played this a fair bit today and it's excellent. Have only done about 5 or 6 campaign missions as I keep getting distracted by everything else on offer in the city :D

Onto Act 2 at the moment and it is easily up there as one of the best games I've played in a long time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,437 ✭✭✭biggebruv

im loving it more and more as each day passes

today was my first time on the train today i had fun shooting people on that while the police were waiting for me :D:D

you could never kill people on the train in GTAV which was one of the dissapointing aspects to gtav no guns in the stripclub or trains etc

so i went apesh!t there LOL

i tried jumping out of the train in between links but it was a no go LOL

im warming to aiden now aswell just finished act 1 now.

so many little neat touchs everywhere with the peds

one ped seen me and seen me on the news so she was about to ring the cops till I ran away hahaha

a homeless man looking for a sandwich in the bin LOL

a couple having a fight and the man actually slaps the woman she ran away and I put a bullet in his head abit extreme I know LOL

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,960 ✭✭✭DarkJager

Love the fact that bullet wounds appear on enemy bodies. Caused a crash by hacking the traffic lights earlier, guy got out of his burning car and started waving other traffic away from it. A couple of seconds later it exploded and he got thrown so hard by the blast, his body destroyed a bus stop :D

Played a good bit of it over the past few days, and compared to the hype it was getting, it's a bit disappointing. It has some very nice touches in places, but it smacks of a game where the developer came up with all these nice little ideas in the game but couldn't round off the game to make it......well, interesting.

It's far too like GTA for my liking too, I think the marketing of the game was very clever focusing on the 'hacking' aspect, when in reality it seems a minority of the game, and there's also far too many side missions, of which a lot aren't that fun or interesting.

It's a good game with clever, inventive narratives but a fair bit off the 'killer' title it was being hyped or speculated as.

My first hack on an unsuspecting player :D

I was sweating during it lol, it was a real game of cat & mouse. The 1 vs 1 hacks are a really great part of Watch Dogs.

My first Invasion - I wasn't really sure what I was doing but luck was on my side lol. At first I thought I could just drive off. I also presumed I was going to pull the guy out of the car GTA style and kill him.

HOW did that first guy never see you? :P

I'm debating buying Watch Dogs for the Xbox 360, but as someone who doesn't play online for various reasons, would I be missing out on much? I'd get it on PC, if I knew my slow-as-hell laptop would run it.

First few hours playing the game and im disappointed so far. For some reason i get really confused with the UI and the amount of popups on screen, it can be a bit disorientating. Really struggling with the driving so far but im presuming ill improve with more play time.

Heres hoping my experience improves im planning on putting serious hours into it.

Just had my first hostile invasion last night. Was in an alley in the Loop area just about to enter a safe house when I got the notification. Turn around, round a corner and literally a second later a car comes barrelling down the alley and smacks into me. I get up off the ground and pop the Hacker in the back as he sprints from the scene. He wasn't the most subtle of fellows it has to be said. The whole thing was over in 10 seconds and was hilarious, loved it.

    Engaging Nit Pick Mode:

Why is the game constantly referred to as being based in a "near future" Chicago. It is not the near future. The date on the neice's headstone was the end of 2012, and the game is based a year later, end of 2013. When the game was announced at E3 2012, sure, then it was near future, but even on the original planned release 6 months ago it wouldn't have been.

I'm going to say that's because the guy who textured the headstone and the guys who wrote the story didn't coordinate properly.

I would recommend getting the Parapova car from the UPLAY store. It has 5 stars in top speed and acceleration and also has stealth abilities. Not sure if that means harder for cops to find you. Class car though. Nothing beats the bikes though.

Becomes seamless after a few hours play I found, not distracting at all then. Remember as well you can turn off th profiler which hides a lot of the HUD popups.

The driving I hated at the start, used to it now. On pc at least I find the trick is to not touch the mouse :p

Started playing it there this morning. Liking it a lot but the driving is incredibly frustrating. Playing on PC with KB and Mouse. Would you recommend using a 360 controller?

    Absolutely. It will really help.

The instant acceleration when I press the up button is incredibly frustrating. Constantly running over pedestrians right after I get into the car. I'll give the controller a whirl.

The only games on PC I play with a keyboard and mouse is first person shooters or stratagy games (Civ, Football manager etc.).

If you already have wireless xbox controllers get one of these:

Ah don't worry, exact same things happens on consoles as well. Mental acceleration on the cars.

I'll PM him your number if you want to take it off the public board, that's probably not that greatest idea.

Guys in the hacking skill tree what does adding a battery slot do ??

I think your phone loses battery every time you hack something (and then quickly regenerates). Hacking traffic lights uses one bar, other things cost more...

I think its a reward for progression.

Lmao I thought the QR code I scanned earlier would give the same message for all the QR's in the game.

I scanned another with my phone and this one said
    DedSec can suck my 8=====>
    :D

Anybody tracking the serial killer yet? :D Played another few hours today, in to Act 2 and got
    The Bunker
, very Batman-ish. Have all Ctos towers unlocked, working through gang hideouts and the serial killer missions now. There's so much content in this game it's impossible not to get side tracked from the story, which is surprisingly good too.

I think its a reward for progression.

I just googled it you get it in the first mission so you might have it already just go through your pistols.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭Battleflag

Yup it was already in my inventory, bit of an idiot me.

Story is really picking up towards the end of the second act but as others said it's just so much fun going off doing all the side missions. I know what I will be doing all day tomorrow

My framerate was chugging tonight :( really took away from the game for me.

only played 2 hours so far and have to say im dissapointed with the game, I hate the driving, finding it tough to get used to it. Far too much UI screen clutter as well, very distracting. So far this is nowhere nearly as enjoyable as my first 2 hours in GTA5.

A lot of people have been saying that the city in GTAV was far more alive and while I've only played an hour of Watchdogs I have to disagree. Threw on GTAV to check it out and compare to WD and the city in V is really disappointing, few pedestrians and there are huge areas where there are no people to be found.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,347 ✭✭✭✭Grayditch

This game keeps becoming more enjoyable the more you play, I feel.

I would say that GTA builds a more attractive looking characterture of a city while Watch_Dogs builds a more realistic city. Every facet of Liberty City or Los Santos looks like a uniquely distilled picture post card of the real place and it's landmarks. Chicago in Watch_Dogs is more slavish to the actual look of a real city with dull grey highways and samey alleyways.

I also am not a huge fan of the driving. I like the wide variety in handling across the variety of cars but it seems like most cars have no physical connection to the road. I loved the driving physics in GTA IV.

I'm finding myself trying some of the gang hideouts....... dying a few times and then leaving them for a while. Still fun to sit back, hack my way in, scope it out and then then take them out one by one.
