missing and overshooting the runway are 2 very different things. Ill look into it

Edit: Quick glance at the aviation forum someone said flybe Dash went off the off the runway. Probably the 16:00 flight from birmingham if it is true. Hopefully not.
edit2: Airport website is showing flight after the flybe one as "Diverted to Cork"

Hopefully we'll get an eyewitness report from Sully, as he was probably driving past at the time.

How many Martin Cullen pensions would it take to extend the runway?

Don't think there was any drama. Just a wheel went off the tarmac onto the grass. Mushy wet ground isnt the friend of aircraft wheels.

Sure they're all terrorists anyway, he was probably attempting a 9/11 style attack on the clock tower..

I'd prefer to just place Martin Cullen horizontally across the end of the runway and use him physically as a plane stopper, as in the equivalent of speed bumps but on an airport runway

place him halfway down just incase they dont make it as far as the end. ;)

Strange that the pilot didn't know where the wheels were supposed to be, sure maybe the runway isn't wide enough.

If this makes the national media it will actually be a form of advertisement for the airport. Most people you meet around the country aren't aware that Waterford has an airport.

Well if you were to listen to the so-called national media* you'd think there was only one airport in the country, because they're forever talking about "the" airport!

    * more accurately described as the Dublin media

Didn't even mention the airport when talking about getting to the olympics, apparently, which is a bit of a head scratcher if flights are going to be at a premium. Waterford would be more convenient for Dublin than Cork or Shannon. Not huge capacity, maybe, but worth mentioning.

Also you can get to Southend airport from Waterford, perfect for the Olympics!
