Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

The lad is still guilty. If this is the only time he's doing it then it's good.

Eh? I thought the judge was a woman? He doesn't look like a judge...

Stuff the killer - he deserves what he gets and more...

However in respect for the families that have lost loved ones and for the sake of the killers legal team maybe later applying for a mistrial due to such things, it don't make the court look good.

    Haha, I think that's brilliant.

I think they are implementing a new legal system where if the judge can complete a game of solitaire in under 5 minutes the defendant is set free.

So AH are we with him or again him on this one? I'm thinking if we let the like s of this happen it'll only be a matter of time before they start fiddling with themselves in court or smoking dope during recess.

I have a feeling it won't affect his judgment in this case..

More importantly, did he win the game?

I wonder how many other people get to play solitaire while working to help improve concentration? Bus drivers? Bank robbers? Yer man from the Kerrygold advert?

    He's one of five judges.

Not sure why the OP added an article written in Norwegian, he's an English one: http://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/breivik-judge-caught-playing-solitaire-in-court-7815262.html
One of the five judges in the case of the alleged mass killer Anders Behring Breivik has been photographed playing solitaire in court.

The image, published in Norwegian media, shows one of the case's three lay judges, Ernst Henning Eielsen, playing the card game on his computer as a Swedish professor gives evidence.

The game was reportedly running on a browser window for up to 16 minutes before the court was adjourned for lunch.

Mr Eielsen has not denied playing the game, according to a court spokeswoman.

It's because he has already made his mind up on the case and do doesn't have to listen so no harm done.

In his defense I would be pretty board having to listen to his lawyer trying to claim his innocence.

All the same though. He is being paid to pay attention during working hours.

To be fair that's pretty unforgivable. The case is being eyeballed from all angles by the International media.

Bloody disgraceful behaviour. I'm sure the parents of the murdered children must be delighted that he's taking his job so seriously. FFS! I'm sure it would go down well in lots of companies someone playing solitare while at a board meeting and someone stupid enough to get caught deserves the sack.

What were the circumstances? I presume he was doing it during a break in proceedings.

Does it matter? The judge could be bollock naked, wearing nothing but a banana on his head and playing the fiddle with his feet and the guy would still be guilty.

Yes it does matter. I served on a jury once, and within a few seconds of seeing the defendant I knew he was guilty, but I still had to pretend like I was listening to all that was being said in court.

One of the most high profile court cases in the country's history and he thinks it's ok to play computer games during it. It shows a gross lack of respect for the case and his job, which for a judge is simply inexcusable.

He isn't a judge, he is a Lay Judge. That's more like a juror than a judge as they are unqualified people selected from the general population in cases with no jury. They sit with the qualified judges and at the end of the case they decide the verdict between them.

I'm not sure if they receive any money for this.

Ah, I confess I didn't notice that and it does put a very different complexion on the matter. Should still be removed from the court case but obviously doesn't reflect on judicial profession.

The trial isn't to determine his guilt or innocence. It's to determine if he's sane or not.

The trial is indeed about innocence or guilt.

Just the prosecution and defence are brawling over if punishment should be mental institute or prison.

    Its not two seperate trials.

Apparently on the video recording of him, whatever game it is - he's seen playing it for over 18 minutes continuously.
