From The Official Charts Company and timed to coincide with HRHs 60th, its a mix of the good, bad and ugly of course but some of the actual positions might surprise. The ultimate market truth seems to be good pop songs sell and once you reach a certain level of longevity it just keeps rolling in. David Bowie in the top 10 is the most intriguing bearing in mind his last top 10 hit was 20 years ago and his singles often came and went pretty quickly.

David Guetta is a famous DJ and music producer. He is very popular but I am surprised to see him on the list.

I'm not. He has had 10 top-10 hits in the last 3 years, and 4 number 1s.

The only ones I've never heard of are Boney M and Jam.

Boney M were the Milli Vanilli of the 70's.

Except they could sing and the group was comprised of both men and women.
    46. Jam
    58. Shadows
Are they The Jam and The Shadows or do I have to admit to only having heard of 57 :o? I drew a blank at David Guetta too.

I've heard of all 60, but if you asked me to name one song by each I might struggle then.

I have heard of all sixty and am glad to see older artist make the list! Can't think of anybody that isn't on the list that should be..

I'm actually surprised there's so many new acts on that list, given how downloading has affected singles sales, and also that older artists have had the chance for more than one generation to buy their music.

But only two of then sang on the records, the lead male vocals were sung by the producer, Frank Farian, a white german guy. Farian was also behind Milli Vanilli.

It never fails to surprise me how popular Cliff Richard was/is.

    Honestly, 3rd? Incredible.

    Oasis in at 17th

    Expected better though.

Number 1 hits in every decade except the current one. That's pretty impressive.

    From wiki
He has had more than 130 singles, albums and EPs make the UK Top 20, more than any other artist[4] and holds the record (with Elvis Presley) as the only act to make the UK singles charts in all of its first six decades (1950s–2000s). He has achieved 14 UK No. 1 singles (or 18, depending on the counting methodology) and is the only singer to have had a No. 1 single in the UK in six consecutive decades: the 1950s through to the 2000s (discounting digital downloads and counting only CDs, he had a UK No. 1 single in the 2000s). Richard is the biggest selling singles artist of all time in the UK, with total sales of over 21 million[5] and has reportedly sold an estimated 250 million records worldwide.[6][7]

Even two million sellers in the States.
