Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Would you become a cyborg if it was possible?

Ok, imagine the technology exists to replace human body parts with mechanical ones. For example you could have robotic arms, that give you super strength. Or robotic legs to help you run faster and jump higher.
Imagine chips implanted in your brain to improve your memory or make you learn things instantly. Imagine having mechanical eyes that gave you night vision or ears that let you hear things from great distances.
Imagine all these things are possible and are routine operations for wealthy people. Babies are operated on at birth and grow up having never been 100% human.

Would you welcome this scenario? What implants or modifications would you get done? Would you look down on poor people who couldn't afford to be modified? Would you be comfortable being part machine or would it concern you that you have lost part of your humanity?

For what it's worth, I'd definitely make myself bigger, stronger, faster etc with machine parts. I think humans (if we survive that long) will in the next few hundred years start evolving this way. Anyone agree with me or have I just played too many video games?

    What do you think?

Hmm, yeah only if it was subtle. Like a cybernetic implant that assisted parts of me rather than taking over. So an implant in leg muscles to run faster, but not loping off my legs to replace them with robot bits.

Totally go for x-ray eyes that I could turn on and off!

I'd ask for superduper robotic patience. To tolerate many of the threads on AH. Not this one of course. This one's lighthearted and fun. The way a forum like AH should be. ;)

But some of the drivel that gets posted on here....

What do you mean "if". We have it already, but its too expensive. A cybiotic arm would be the job..

Horses have iron bolted onto their hooves, making them tougher.

    Horses are cyborgs.

If I got an insulin pump I'd be a cyborg.

the chip for better memory or to increase brain usage would be a good one, also a sub dermal layer of gun metal or carbon fibre would be class, i would be INDESTRUCTIBLE........ [cue evil laugh]

I'd do it as a last resort when there was no other choice, like when Luke Skywalker was forced to get a hand job done by his father.

My wee sister had a cochlear implant operation and is a cyborg any way you look at it.
technological body parts are the future. Im looking forward to replacing whichever body parts as soon as they start to fail.

brain chip is first on the list!

I'd get a sort of double willy, one slightly on top of the other so when I'm riding the ladies from behind I could penetrate 2 holes with the 1 willy

think I'd get 4 balls to match

True, but let's face it that bionic eye is crap compared to a real human eye. It can only allow the user to see the outline of shapes, and distinguish light from dark. It will get interesting when technology improves to the extent when a robotic eye is better than a natural one, maybe with features like the ability to zoom, night vision, or have record and playback funtionality.

Gentlemen, we can rebuild him. We have the technology. We have the capability to build the world's first bionic man. Steve Austin will be that man. Better than he was before. Better, stronger, faster.

Nanomachines in the blood to eat cancer and other undesirables.

Also a brain chip that will show a person's name right beside them when looking at them. I'm terrible for remembering names.
