Bought a pro cut strimmer few weeks back in woodies . Used it 3 times. Today the head stopped spinning :( the engine is running fine. It has petrol. The line is threaded correctly. But the head won't rotate :(
Any suggestions please want to finish before tomorrow's deluge

There is a cable that runs from the motor to the head, may have got disconnected out of the head if you had the motor off to rethread it?

Sorry thought you where talking about the pull cord. But seems to be a problem with that cable that runs down the centre if the head isnt turning. Is it one of those that the head doesn't spin until you pull a trigger? May be a problem with the trigger as well.

Took the whole head apart . It's working again :) but the screw holding the guard on must have fallen off at some stage :(
    Anyone reading this .
DONT BUY ONE I did not even know machines still had chokes !!!

I have to ask What type of fuel does this strimmer take? petrol? or does it use a mixture?

Petrol and 4 stroke oil mixture

From your post it seems , when you removed the strimmer head the drive coupling came away from the splined shaft and was refitted back to front ,not making any connection with the drive ? Ie. the head was locked against the frame and the drive shaft was free to spin .
Before the line disappears from the head tap the head on the ground while running the head at speed and new line will emerge .
The engine is two stroke and requires two stroke oil ratio 20 : 1 as against 25:1 in the manual The slightly higher ratio will only give a little more smoke and will not harm the engine too weak a mixture will be terminal however .

20:1 is a lot of oil! You'll be making a lot of smoke with that ratio.
If you buy good semi-synthetic it is usually 50:1, I run 40:1 thats not the recommended mix but I don't have any smoke at that mix.
20:1 was used back in the old days before good quality oils were around.

    Yeah it's 50:1

With Good oil 50:1 is fine, and will cause less problems like plugs fouling and carbon build up on the piston crown.
I'd stay away from cheap supermarket and petrol station oils TBH, they are an unknown quality and for the peace of mind its worth buying brand name oil for a 2 stroke.

Bought Pro-Cut strimmer from Woodies. The strimmer Head (bump feed) broke the first time I used it. Woodies replaced it. The second head also broke within ten minuits use. Anyone else having this problem. Will another brand of head fit? I suspect the head design is faulty.

A different head should fit, best bet though is to take it to a garden machinery specialist and they would be able to advise on the head you need (different threads etc.)

I know it doesn't help much, but in future try and buy from a proper garden machinery shop, DIY temples are not the best place to go to.

    Hope this helps.

I've been using 50:1 mixture with this Procut strimmer for the last 7 years or so, it's got hours and hours of use, and never have had any issues. The line guard did break and I had to make a new one, and the seal in the petrol tank cap cracked so I had to make a new one from nitrile rubber. I wrote a guide here if anyone's interested on how to troubleshoot the engine:

EBay do a carburetor for this strimmer. I bought one and it sorted running and starting issues. Over time the diaphragm and fuel pump can become stretched so they don't work effectively. Carburetor kits are also available for this carb on eBay.

I'm sure the OP got something sorted in the 7 years since. 🙃

Edit; actually it's 11 years since the OP.

    It’s still going :D

I never did get the head fixed properly. I just did a diy bolt nut job and it obviously did the trick

    some servant in fairness

Wow 11 years and still going - that's some happy ending story right there!
