As I suggested earlier in the thread, the TBAs turned out to be nothing. If/when Apple announce anything TV related it will probably be at a dedicated event in which everyone will be no doubt as to what is going to be announced.

Was hoping for apps on AppleTV. The TV needs more love Tim!

Excellent feature! Passbook? Can't imagine it'll be useful for Ireland.

Yeah it looks class, looks very useful, but in this feckin country where we put in our infrastructure after something is developed it will probably take a few years to catch on, the whole 4G thing is very annoying. Have any of the carriers said they're actively pursuing mobile wimax or LTE?

The spectrums need to be auctioned off first. Apparently the mobile companies have cash on reserve for upgrading to the 4g spectrum. So blame Comreg for their inefficiency for not going ahead with the auction.

Tim Cook hasn't done a "just one more thing" yet. Maybe he prefers not to imitate Steve that much.

local look ups should be coming soon though?

Just on Mountain Lion, the price announced - is that for an upgrade from Lion only? I'm still on Snow Leopard and will probably move to Mountain Lion next month. Will I need to buy Lion first as a stepping stone or will I be able to upgrade straight from Snow Leopard, and will there be a premium for doing so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 70 ✭✭gorevs

    according to macrumourslive web feed

Price good for upgrades all the way back to Snow Leopard. One purchase updates all your personal Macs.

The Mac Pros got a silent update.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,359 ✭✭✭DubDJ

Just noticed that the new Retina Macbook has an HDMI port. Thats a first for Apple along with finally supporting USB 3.0. Or maybe the Mac Mini has HDMI. Still it's handy not needing an adapter. Also the Superdrive has been removed.

Really making me want to upgrade but there's no chance.

Republic of Ireland Store is back up.

Just a few additions that got silent updates.

New Mac Pro as Sad Professor mention.

New iPad Smart Case - Front and back protection.

New Airport Express Base Station. - Now looks just like an Apple TV, but in white.

New Apple USB Superdrive. - Not sure if it's USB 3.0 or not.

I was just about to buy a new Airport last week. So glad I waited.

Don't think so. It wraps around the front of the iPad, which I don't think looks good, also your can't just pull the magnetic cover off. Still a few people i'm sure will be delighted with it.

I pre'd about 10 times today.. Anyone want any old apple devices? :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,359 ✭✭✭DubDJ

Just having a quick look through the new features. Seems Mountain Lion won't get Facebook integration until Autumn. Alongside iOS 6 i'd say. Probably a few other features too,

Also in iOS 6 it gives a brief preview of what the redesigned stores will look like. Not too much of a change but looks a lot better and more refined. Glad it wasn't too big of a shift, I like how simple the stores are now.

I recently read an article about how Google will loose a couple of hundred million a year with the loss of Google Maps from iOS. Did anyone read the same thing, can you remember where the article was from?

Actually why is the 17" Macbook Pro gone from the store? Has it been discontinued?

Yeah, discontinued. This has been predicted for a while, so it's not a huge surprise. The new Retina display MBP replaces it.

Personally i'd never use a 17''er as I find them way too big. But I know of a lot of people who couldn't use anything smaller. I'll say there will be a few upset fans. The Retina screen will have to fill the void I suppose.

i wonder will new maps app work offline, ?

Had a semi when I saw the video with retina and the beautiful fan and look how slim it is. Then I saw the price and I lost the semi in a nano second and tightened my arse like ya do when you go, oh that's gonna hurt!

This one is really for pros.

Think the Education Discount has been dropped from "up to 10%" down to "up to 6%". Unless my calculations are wrong (which they probably are). Lots of angry students. We may have another riot on our hands :D

Apple has just posted the Full Keynote video here.

Also they have just released iTunes 10.6.3 for everyone, not just Dev's.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,359 ✭✭✭DubDJ

Wow. About 10mins 30secs into the video are some shots of the quays around Capel Street. Wasn't sure it was Dublin until the fella started speaking in an Irish Accent. Weird seeing it in one of Apple's videos.

Is the new navigation only for iphone 4S and ipad2 up?

Edit: I think the reference is to the Siri features?

    When will these be out?

iOS 6 will be out in Autumn sometime. Whenever the new iPhone arrives, so probably late September/early October.

Oh and Siri for iPad is iPad 3 only.

Discontinuing the 17" is a strange one ... I had one of the non-unibody ones and I can honestly say it was the best computer I've ever owned. They do suit some people.

I heard that the 17" only accounted for 1% of all their sold laptops.

One thing that always bothered me about FaceTime and iMessage was if somebody calls you through your phone you can receive the call or message. But to be able to get them on your Mac or iPad they had to use your email address. I always hated it and thought it made both FaceTime and iMessage useless on the iPad and Mac for receiving calls and texts.

Just seen now that Apple are integrating/combining both your phone number and email address so it solves that problem. One of my favourite features from iOS 6. :D
