    Hi guys,
Just wanted some info regarding laws on burning rubbish in your back garden. I live in an estate and every night with the last two weeks my neighbours have been burning plastic etc in a barrel out the back if their house. They happen to be travellers too which adds to the fun!

Is there anyone I can report this to? I can't even open my windows and my garden is full of smoke.

    Thanks in advance guys.

Probably either your local council or the environmental health officer.

Though given they're travellers I don't fancy your chances of anything actually being done....

    firstly check out this thread

and here is the environment protection agency
    http://www.epa.ie/whatwedo/advice/waste/burn/

which says it is not allowed if
    (i) be injurious to public health, or

(ii) have a deleterious effect on flora or fauna or damage property, or

(iii) impair or interfere with amenities or with the environment."

yours is number iii, so I would be getting onto the council and reporting them for it

best of luck, the smell of burning plastic is rank and you shouldnt have to put up with it

Laws only apply to me and you, not travellers.

    You're beat.
