When UPC ship you out your modem, can you go ahead and install it yourself?

Hi guys, I signed up to UPC online on Tuesday, a package(assuming its the modem) arrived today, can I just go ahead and plug it in, and I'll have internet working? Or is there more to it and am I waiting on them to send somebody to complete the installation? Thanks, -B

If you have a cable socket on the wall, just connect the splitter + your cable tv box to one side and the router/phone device to the other.
