    My picks....

    Donald, Luke 13/1
    Woods, Tiger 8/1
    Westwood, Lee 12/1
    Kuchar, Matt 28/1
    Watson, Bubba 50/1

Bo van pelt could go well at a biggish price of 60/1 hits the ball far enough and putts well..in reasonable form this year as well.

    Phil Mickelson @22-1 PP 1pt e/w
Ok massive chance for Phil this week, a few things that make him a contender! He has the best short game around which on greens the size of Pitch & Putt courses you need to be immaculate around them! He is big enough off the tee but whatever he misses he seems to have a knack of keeping big scores off the card, 6th in the PGA for Bogey avoidance! This crucial as the experts are all saying anything under par come Sun will have a chance! Another factor is that he is paired with Tiger and Bubba on the first 2 days. He is notoriously slow out of the blocks in big tournaments but i dont think that'll be the case this week against the old enemy he'll be seriously geed up to get ahead of Tiger. He took last week off to work on his game and was one of the first pro's to turn up on the course. His record in Us Opens is scary with 5 runner ups. 2012 season reads 13 starts= 1 win and 4 top 5s! This is coming from a man that has said he hasn't hit full tilt yet!!

    Jonathan Byrd @66-1 PP 1pt e/w
Has a superb all round game to combat this course, his game is all played around the hole super scrambling 8th on tour, short game is class and putter is really solid. Has 4 consecutive t0p 12 finishes with a 6th place in last weeks tournament. Most consistent player on tour at the minute!

    Jim Furyk @ 35-1 PP 1pt e/w
Again going for consistency Superb player hitting form again.7 top 25s in his last 8 starts. Leads the PGA TOUR in bogey avoidance and 2nd in fairways hit, 25th in greens in reg. More importantly his game is totally suited to Us Open golf with 5top 5s out of 17 starts! Has a massive chance. T14 here in 1998

    Bubba Watson @50-1 PP 0.5pt e/w
Simply have to back him for watchability, lunatic off and on the course, obviously has the game as he showed around the masters, has taken time off to get his game and head back together a bit, superb driver of the ball and scrambler, worth a punt just to follow him really

    Michael Allen 400-1@PP 0.5pt e/w
Ok don't put the life savings on this lad but can tick a few boxes which means on his day he might finish each/way money. He's gone past the 50 mark and plays more on the Champions tour now but has won twice in 2012, he has played 2 PGA tour events this year finishing inside the top 10 on one which means he still has a bit of game about him. More interestingly he is a member of the Olympic club. Massive advantage!! Knows breaks on greens safe sides to approach from maybe a bit of inside info from the green keeper etc. His stats are good reading with excellent scoring, birdie and ball striking averages. Worth keeping a look out for anyway!

    Agreed. Nice one Farneyman.
Might just do an e/w on him for R1 leader.

    Tiger wins though ;)

I think this US Open is going to produce a surprise winner

    e/w bets I've placed

    Keegan Bradley 60/1
    Adam Scott 50/1
    Goosen 175/1
    Cabrera 220/1
    Dufner 35/1
    Furyk 40/1
    Schwartzel 55/1
    Oosthuizen 60/1
    Peter Lawrie 250/1

I think all bar Lawrie and Cabrera have a chance of a top 6 place, hoping I'm wrong about those two with their odds though!

Video posted by Stephanie Wei showing the severity of the slope on the 17th green at Olympic, even if the shot is miss hit slightly its gone.

    That's some slope!

Here are my picks for the weekend

All e/w, will do in-running later on.

    Sergio 40/1
    Baddeley 100/1
    Knost 300/1

I've put way more thought into this then TheFarneyMan, I just haven't got the time to explain them all ;)

*Might put a little stake on Baddeley for the win

Common enough in tournaments really to have half the field starting at the ninth.

    Whyner wrote: »

two tee start, the 9th is closer to the club house than the 10th.

Bad start for big Phil, they can't find his ball from his first tee shot !!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,613 ✭✭✭newport2

12 players completed first hole, 7 bogies

Sorry, didn't take any notice of it being the ninth. Thought you were asking why they all weren't starting from the first.

ah he was fluffing on about how he loves tough tests and how he loves the US Opens and how half the other field hated it cause it was so difficult.
    Basically saying I'm brilliant.

Par for Harrington at his first

Tiger seems to be hitting the ball really nicely. Level after 3 isnt a good reflection of a very good start for him.

when's that 14 year old fella teeing off?

interested to see how he gets on, he'll probably be going for everything!

    them juniors!

This will be carnage from what I've seen !!

Phil is like the masters all over.....blowing it in round 1
Tiger just hit a ball to the 15th it landed pin high on a front pin and is off the back right of the green
He's 1 over and his price has hardened, difficult to understand as he's started on the easier 9

Breeze to pick up a little and no rain forecast, this could be car crash tv all weekend.
