Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

was thinking that myself, Richard Dunne's big arse had something to do with it :pac:

It's not just the bookings though. He's played advantage as much as possible. No way this game would have five goals with the ref from the earlier game.

Its quite simple really. Richard Dunne is a God amongst men.

Some of the football from Arshavin has been incredible. Why does he play dogsh!t at Arsenal? Their one touch, passing play should suit him?

I love when people make up rules, or take what they hear "experts" say to be a rule.

It's the same with "two feet off the ground" in a tackle, it's not written anywhere as a Law, nor is "being in control" of a tackle.

    they are just buzzwords.

In the FIFA document 'Interpretation of the Laws of the Game and Guidelines for Referees', which is included in the Laws of the game, it mentions this under the Denial of an Obvious Goal Scoring Opportunity:
Referees should consider the following circumstances when deciding
whether to send off a player for denying a goal or an obvious goal-
    scoring opportunity:
    • the distance between the offence and the goal
    • the likelihood of keeping or gaining control of the ball
    • the direction of the play
    • the location and number of defenders
    • the offence which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring
opportunity may be an offence that incurs a direct free kick or an
    indirect free kick

    not a buzzword.

That's why I think the argument that Szczesny's red was wrong has validity.

Tbh, I'm less convinced of my own argument now but I still think it's there.

As for this game, the Czechs didn't offer enough until it was too late.

Kadlec was shocking, Rezek was pretty bad, Baros didn't do anything.

    Arshavin and Dzagoev were excellent.

Seems a theme for this group that LB's haven't had the best of games, Zhirkov excepted.

i thought Hubník and Pilař had good games and Rosicky was decent.

Pilar definitely stood out. Petrelza has to start on the right over Rezek for me next time.

Not often I come on to praise an officiating team but the ref and his team were brilliant in the Poland V Greece game. Best set of officials Ive seen in years.

    Super super Pav... :D

Always liked him. Infuriating to watch at times though.

Great start to the tournament so far. Enjoyed both games so far.

While I would have preferred Poland to win, the results have worked out perfectly for my bet. :)

    Greece v Czech Rep K/O 5pm

    Poland v Russia K/O 7:45pm

    Current group standings

    Team|Played|W|D|L|GF|GA|Pts
    Russia|1|1|0|0|4|1|3|
    Greece|1|0|1|0|1|1|1|
    Poland|1|0|1|0|1|1|1|
    Czech R|1|0|0|1|1|4|0|

Russia can guarntee progression to the next stage with a win against a Polish side missing their 2st choice keeper.

Greece and Czech Rep will be hoping to put points on the board to keep the pressure on Russia who kick off after this game.

Should be a very good atmosphere for the Poland v Russia game.

I think I'll play safe and go for Greece and Russia to win. I've been very unimpressed with Czech Rep and Poland, tho in front of a home crowd the Poles may surprise?

Both coaches for this game have made good changes.
