Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

sure Russia is.top at the moment? how can they go out if Poland win?

    "Wheels within wheels. "

Basically if 3 teams end on same points then a mini-league is created that Russia would be first in thanks to their big win on day 1. This mini league can only be created if Czech draw.

However if Czech don't draw (eg if Poland win) then this 'mini league' doesn't get created and Russia are judged purely vs their result against Greece (ie the game they lost (theoretically will lose) ).

    Ooohhh

    Karagounis booked for diving.......

Tough one. I mean there was a little contact but he went down so easy.

    Disgraceful refereeing.

Deary me. If Rosicky was here I'd be putting money on them winning for sure.

A lot of the Poland players look dead on their feet.

    I think he dived.

There was contact on the shin but he went down so easily that I can understand the Ref's decision.

Watching the Russia-Greece game, as things stand they both will go through!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,465 ✭✭✭kitakyushu

So why is Russia.top now if on same points with Greece ?

In the overall table Russia, Greece and Czech all on same pts right now (4pts).

Now. studying just the results between these three teams then Russia has the best. They're top because of that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,465 ✭✭✭kitakyushu

Karagounis going off before he gets sent off I think.

    look to put it simply

if greece win and there is a winner in the other match.... Russia finish 3rd.

if greece win and the other game is a draw...
    1. Greece
    2. Russia

if russia win or draw they top the group and greece exit with the czechs taking 2nd with a draw or better.

    its not that hard.

first criteria is H2H here, not goal difference.

  • Site Banned Posts: 26,456 ✭✭✭✭Nuri Sahin

.. and there it is. Well deserved on this half alone. 1-0 to the Czechs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,511 ✭✭✭✭noodler

Wow. I never though this group would get so exciting.

    Good goal.

Off the upright! Brilliant free, 2 dirty fouls by russia in a row. How Greece didn't get a peno is a disgrace

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,465 ✭✭✭kitakyushu

Pogrebnyak on for Russia. Looks like they're going for the direct route.

Been very impressed with the Czech Republic since half time, when they realised they needed to win they upped their game big time.

Getting ahead of myself but got to admire the Czechs and the way they still compete despite the loss of the golden generation.

To play Germany in the quarter finals. They'll sweeten the deal with a debt write-down.

And to think I was happy enough to see a team get hammered before we played our first match so that we wouldn't be the worst of the lot.

Looks like that team will now win their group!

    Oh, I'd forgotten about that.

With their election on Sunday and a Germany-Greece quarter final a few days later.

    That will be absolutely unbelievable.

Poland are worse imho, not to mention clueless. (I'm sure they'll score now :D )

True, but I can't warm to the Greek team like I have to the Polish.

I would prefer to see one of the hosts to go through ahead of most other countries.
