Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Dunphy at half time

"Neither team will score in the 2nd half, switch off your tellys and go to the pub".

45 minutes and 4 goals later..........

He's gonna be hearing about this again and again for a long time to come. :)

Ger Canning it is Welbeck not Welback. Is it not Kallstrom as well no??

In fairness to Dunphy, it didnt look like much was going to happen in the second half. Curious to see how he tries to spin it tho.

Dunphy on England's chances a moment ago :D

Come on lads, don't let Dunphy away with his "no more goals" gaffe.

Gabby is on the BBC, Darragh, not ITV.

I think you got 3 touches!

Ger Canning is such a bad commentator. Translates in every sport.

"There's a lot to work on"

    - Alan Shearer. Unfortunately he doesn't go on to tell us what they need to work on.

"They need to improve all round"

    - Alan Hansen as insightful as ever.

    Thank fúck for RTÉ.

Top class analysis of the Spain game there by Cunningham - plain as the nose on your face, really, but very clear forensics by the Tourretts eyebrowed one.

Must have been really hard to look back at that match.

Cunningham has the makings of a decent coach.

    Yes!!

    Brian Kerr. Immense.

"If they play with the same ferrrrrver, they'll win"

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,027 ✭✭✭willowthewisp

Richie Sadlier, what a fraud, when Brady put it up to him about the media scrutiny and interpretation of traps comments he quivered in his pradas and backed down like a snotty nosed schoolboy, now today he is intimating that trap hung his players out to dry with his comments.
What has this fella done to deserve a place as an expert analyst?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 34,424 ✭✭✭✭The_Kew_Tour

When we did apply pressure on Spain we actually made them make mistakes.

Not saying we would have got result, they were just total class, but we may have put on far better showing and lost with some pride then wimp.

Ah, no, he knows his stuff.

I'm looking forward to a few classics from Brian tonight. He's been one of the highlights of this tournament for me.

He knows how to state the bleeding obvious alright. But he does it with an authority that he has done nothing to earn.

He should never have been treated the way he was. That man would be a wonderful director of youth football in this country. Trap has reaped a lot of what Kerr sowed.

....saw the net shake, rattle, or whatever ya call it.

That was a lovely little nod to the conversation that himself and Steven Alkin had the other night about the "rattling" of the net.
"I never heard of the net rattling, but then again I never really played in goal that much"

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,419 ✭✭✭born2bwild

Ah...he won the league with Pat's and brought an under 17s team to third place in the world cup in 1997. He put a decent enough stint in as Ireland manager.

I see what you mean, though, that must have been all blind luck.

You would hope so, no point houghton saying much wherever he is.

Im delighted to hear Sadlier say that.

Bill trying to get the panel to talk about the Russian game which they weren't watching.

Richie cut that out fairly lively :P

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,255 ✭✭✭Renn

Bill put it down to the 'Russians attitude'.

What have you got against? He is way better than Dunphy,Giles etc. What do they say that is insightful compared to Sadlier?

Very sloppy that they are only going through the qualification rules now (and getting them wrong - points earned between the tied teams is the first decider, then goal difference).

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,113 ✭✭✭Lumbo

Brian is worried about his laundry bill now.

Brilliant comment by Kerr about the wet strips taken off at half time because of the rain: "The gerl in the washeteria won't be too impressed wit de durt a dem" or something like that.
    The man is a legend.

George ' the bouncing Czechs' about shots of Czech crowd.

Oh my god that passage was bloody brilliant!

"Gave him a fair smack of the elbow there.... or maybe it was his nails, I hope he cut his nails... <camera cuts to man in gothic facepaint in crowd>... look at the head on him!"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 288 ✭✭Thefirestarter

"The head on him" - Kerr on a Polish fan in the crowd.

    Gem.

If Apres Match did match commentary, it wouldn't be as good as the real Brian Kerr!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,154 ✭✭✭✭Neil3030

What I love about Kerr too is how much he sounds like he's enjoying being over there. There's a genuine enthusiasm in his voice. A football man like him, being paid to head over to a tournament and offer points on a game - talk about a dream gig!
