Will be very interested to see how Denmark play against Germany, they could risk playing for a draw, which Germany would be happy with as well, but if Portugal were to avoid defeat then they would be going out. I still fancy the Dutch to go through, and Portugal to finish bottom, it'll be a very interesting Sunday, I presume RTE will be showing the Dutch game.

    Just saw this

Mario Gomez (#GER) was in possession for only 18 seconds in the game v #NED, yet still scored 2 goals

    Impressive

    Portugal v Netherlands

Portugal will be unchanged and Netherlands will play with the team that finished the match against Germany, so Huntelaar and VDV will start in place of Afellay and De Jong or Van Bommel

    Denmark v Germany

The Danes will be without Dennis Rommedahl, injured against Portugal, and he will be replaced by Tobias Mikkelsen. Niki Zimling faces a race to recover from a muscle injury so might be replaced by Jakob Poulsen. The Germans will be without suspended right back Jerome Boateng with Lars Bender replacing him, leaving Philipp Lahm on the left.

Podolski starting means that he's the youngest European player to ever reach 100 caps for their country. Considering that he just turned 27 a few weeks ago it's an incredible achievement.

hopefully we have the same drama as yesterday...... imagine the netherlands doing a greece

Great achievement. Helped in no small part that Germany has done so well 2006-2012 and therefore he's had a possible 23 finals games so far to date.

ITV4 is coming up 'programme not available in ROI' at 7.15 for Germany/Denmark.
Thats fair enough for say the FACup when Setanta also have the Irish rights.

But in this case no other TV station is showing the game so why is it blanked?

Coupled with the fact that he seems to have steered clear of suspensions and injuries. If Rooney had the same luck and didn't find himself injured/suspended/knocked out of tournaments early the whole time then he'd have broken the record a while back at a much younger age.

Even if Podolski only plays sporadically over the next 6/7 years he should come close to Lothar Matthaus's record of 150.

Ronaldo is only a few caps off 100. He's a few months older than Podolski though. If he'd been a bit luckier in some tournaments then he'd have gotten the record as well.

UPC? Of all the options they are surely the worst. (unless you like fast broadband)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 13,549 ✭✭✭✭ArmaniJeanss

So ITV4 must have the rights to show it in Ireland as it available on that station via Sky.

But some fcukwit imbecile in UPC has pressed the 'blank it' button, possibly thinking its like that FACup thing where Setanta had preferential Irish rights.

    UPC clowns.

Anyone make sense of Denmarks team? The line-up has Eriksen at RW no obvious replacement among the playing CM's for his usual position?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 36,669 ✭✭✭✭BorneTobyWilde

There should only be 2 groups of eight,
plays 7 games each, first two in group to play semi, then final,

This thing of play 2 games and your out is crap, 7 games over 3 weeks,
then semi and final in last week,

plus its far to easy for spain to win tournament,

Dutch anthem is regal but light weight. Not a good start for them.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,061 ✭✭✭keith16

A nice quick tempo to Portugal's anthem and good to sing along to....Portugal to win 2-0 on that basis alone.

Why do the Dutch have to win by two goals? I thought it goes to head to head result before goal difference?
