Where to buy gaming Laptop? (Argos,Harvey Norman ETC)

1. What is your budget? [€600 Max]

2. What will be the main purpose of the computer? [Gaming MOSTLY]

3. I want to keep my cpu usage very low

4. Intel core i5 processor preferred

5. Would love LONG LASTING BATTERY LIFE

6. Weight (Smaller than 3kg, prefer mostly 2.5 or less)

7. Dont care about graphics i have no clue about laptop graphics

8. Ram? 6GB RAM , 4GB i dont mind but would want 6gb way better:P

9. Inch display? Would like as small as possible

10. What else? Webcam not really needed,DVD optical drives very much needed, HDMI port,2+ USB PORTS,

11. Would like to keep the laptop dimensions mediumish

Like many others will tell you shortly, 600 isn't going to be a great budget for gaming.

I'd have to agree.You can't realy have a long battery life in a gaming laptop. Mine lasts just over an hour on its on juice.Have to keep it plugged in constantly. You might have to choose which is more important: Battery life or gaming.

Well OP,good luck with finding a gaming laptop in Brick&mortar stores.

You going to have to do it online but even €600 won't get you decent specs.

You can get laptops that will play games at a good level and still get decent battery life. The Samsung series 7 chronos is a good example. €600 isn't much of a budget for a gaming computer. You'd need to increase it a good bit. As for the one you linked it will do pretty much everything except for gaming. The graphics card is just too weak.

The laptop doesn't have any (dedicated) graphics card at all so it wouldn't be great for gaming. As Lemon says above, at this price there's not a fantastic selection and you need to be spending €600-800 to get a somewhat decent card.

If gaming was your top priority and you couldn't stretch, then you could possibly go for one of those AMD laptops such as...

This has good graphics but poorish raw processing power compared to some intel CPUs.

Gaming is GPU intensive, unfortunately GPU's are power hungry and hot. Laptops are restricted by batteries and poor airflow, not a good environment for a power hungry, heat intensive device. Designing a GPU to run cool on low power for laptops results in less performance for a higher cost when compared with desktops.

If you are restricted by budget and the machine is primarily to be used for gaming, if it is at all possible I would very strongly recommend you consider a desktop instead of a laptop. You can build a very small ITX based desktop PC not much bigger that a games console, that will far out perform a laptop for equivalent money.

I don't think getting a gaming laptop to that spec is possible on your budget, certainly not if buying from a b&m shop.

Personally I'd advise you to AVOID b&m shops as the laptops are usually underspecced and overpriced. There was a few links to Asus laptops (€800ish) on Komplett.ie in the last few weeks. Might be worth a look.

You'll probably find a Dell 15r or possibly an XPS with an i5 and a 1GB 525M card for around your budget on the outlet store.

that Asus is a great suggestion. Want to check how much dedicated Vram it has though. GF had an Asus laptop a while back, well built & decent spec for what she paid IIRC. Then she got a mac:(

Stick an SSD in there and you've got a decent machine for gaming.
