They usually get the 3rd place game but since there isn't one this time around I reckon they should get one of the quarter / semi-finals. RTE are already using Brian Kerr so clearly they have no problem putting guys into "real" games for comedy value.

Brian Kerr is funny just because of some of the very ordinary language he uses and the way he might, say, refer to players by a physical feature particular to them so some of his chatter might sound like something you might hear at the local but he also has a great love and experience of the game which comes across. He can also be pretty insightful at times as well so I think he's a good addition to the commentary team.


As for Apres Match, since each set of games in the final round of the group stage are running concurrently, why not give the Apres Match boys one of the stream only games to do their stuff on? Those don't always have any analysis on anyway.

I actually think the 2 "classic" apres matches they showed made sense to show. The firs one they mention having 2 "umpires" behind the goal (which has happened) and the 2nd one was the spanish one so thats self explanatory! it does seem that they did put some thought and effort into the selection of those 2.

the new ones have been amazing - with the Merkel one as the stand out for me!
