Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Yeah, whatever.

    Solid argument.

Parkour is to sport what this nonsense is to art: http://sensicology.wordpress.com/2010/08/04/video-hipster-performs-can-opening-and-peeing-art/
Except that I never claimed Parkour is a sport if you actually read my post. Its not. You just dismissed it as running around like a wanker which is pretty ignorant. If you're going to say that, couldn't you say soccer, rugby, tennis, marathons have people running around like ****? I wouldnt say that because its stupid. This thread is about the fans that go to sports just to be seen by the way.

Parkour isn't a sport. No one who knows what Parkour is would claim it was a sport.

MMA, what a load of crap. Supposed specialists in diverse forms of combat face off against each other and ultimately it end up with two guys rolling around on the ground. The guys are tough, they are fit, sport it is not, unless you consider a scrap outside the boozer a "sport".

Not really an indicator as to why you think it's fake though, you are just saying why you don't like it.

After last nights bull**** I find myself wanting to say boxing. Just too much shenanigans and apparent fixes going on in it now for it to have any real credibility.

The fact that you haven't a bogs notion whats going on rather renders your opinion null and void.

Well then genius, explain the finer points of MMA to me. You're typical of a lot of MMA fans, trying to make it something that it isn't, to imbue it with something it hasn't. It's just two guys trying to beat the crap out of each other.

The reason it's fake is tries to portray the fighters as experts in whatever field, ultimately it just ends up in brawl, it is not what it claims to be, therefore fake. Only my opinion.

Well, you have Olympic medal winning Wrestlers, BJJ world champs, Judo Champs, K1 Kickboxers etc.

Guys who have reached the pinnacle of their individual sport and then make there way to MMA. I'd consider those guys to be experts in their fields.

I think ultimately, fights end up happening in a degree of area's, and often on the ground. When you have two evenly matched guys the fight can stall, and many of the things that happen can be quite subtle.

Edit : Thanks for expanding on your point btw, and don't think I am trying to change your mind or anything like that. Just rolling with the conversation at this point.

And again, you seem to have a bizarre notion of what constitutes a fight, have no idea of whats involved, and are speaking from a position of breath-taking ignorance. I'd suggested that you look into Judo groundwork and Brazillian Jiu Jitsu groundwork before making a further show of yourself.

A crude way of putting it, but yes, it is two guys trying to overpower each other, using a large array of means to do so.

    I agree, parkour isn't a sport, it's more of a lifestyle.

If its not a sport then it can't be called fake.

Wrestlers on the other hand think they are athletes when they're not. They are a cross between stuntmen and actors, they wear costumes and makeup (eyeliner & fake tan) for the cameras, its a show, therefore it's fake!

    That's the essence of acting....fake!

Not in terms of the competitors involved per say. but in terms of support and interest. you know what i mean, the ones where people go there really just to be seen, almost to the point where it isn't even about the sport any more.

Personally, I think horse racing. it just seems that feckall people who go to these things actually care about the races and are just there to be seen in their new dresses.

Returning to the scope of the original question, I would say professional tennis especially here in the US. Years ago, you wouldn't see many celebrities, especially Black celebrities, attending a tennis match. Where I grew up, it was deemed a "White sport" until the Williams sisters took to the court (Ashe was an exception). Then, people started enrolling their kids in tennis lessons, and you started seeing Black celebrities out and about at the matches.

Have you ever ridden a horse? Obviously not.

When I'm showjumping you need to maintain a good contact with the horse so to keep control, need to half halt before each jump in order to set up the horse right, you need to maintain a good contact with your seat in order to drive the horse on but in a steady way. You need to be able to recover quickly after jumping large fences in order to maintain control. you need to make sure that the horse is on the right leg when cantering doing flying changes if needed. You need to keep the horse balanced and steady using your legs and seat alone.

it's very hard, hop up on my horse there and try it.

Horses are strong, unpredictable animals who require a soft but firm handling especially when trying to get him through a large course of 14 fences, never mind speed rounds.

Ah would ya shut up and go play a game of football.

    :D
