Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Is the fact that Simon Cox is absolutely muck totally irrelevant?

It's probably irrelevant to Spain anyway. I'm sure they'd let us play with two goalies if we asked them nicely.

I'd prefer Long but in fairness to Cox he has played well whenever he has started in a green shirt. Was great against Armenia last year and is an improvement on Doyle in my book.

He does a bit yeah - bit like Christy Dignam in goal for Italy! :D

I don't think it'll make much diff but I'd have no problems bringing Cox into the team at this point.

As Kerr said, you'd think he'd have gone to head it first.
Brilliant touch to bring it down though.

    Please score again Italy!

What do they feel they achieve by throwing flares?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,643 ✭✭✭Phoenix Park

Lads was it Strinic who crossed the ball from the left for the goal there? Have him in my FF team

Good to see flares coming back..seems like great 'craic' in that corner of Croatian fans

Could be a fair bit of pressure on Spain..

What would be the best result for us here a draw or italy to win do ye all reckon?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,256 ✭✭✭closeline

I hate people who set off these flames. Great finish from the lad. What club is he at at the moment? Italy seemed to be too happy to hold onto their 1-0 lead. Hope Croatia go on to win it now.

italy to win. Anything else, and we need Croatia to get a result against spain in the last game.

being realistic an Italian victory is needed. We need Croatia to lose their last two games. Assuming that we can get at least 4 points and Spain win their last game.

Italy have stepped it up a little since the goal.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,191 ✭✭✭BKC

4-5-1, with Cox in midfield, according to Tardelli.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,239 ✭✭✭sdanseo

Yet again, a better player left out in Shane Long.

Trap, seriously Get with it. We need a striker up there with a bit of energy and enthusiasm; and Long is that guy.

Italy have stepped it up a little since the goal.

But then we'll have 4 points, and so will Italy, with Spain having 5. Italy's GD is 3 better than ours, so that wouldn't work. We're not going to beat Italy by 4 goals.

We need this to be a draw, us to draw with Spain, and then we beat Italy and Croatia beat Spain. That's to go through with GD left aside. A big ask, but possible.

Alternatively, we beat Italy AND Spain. Again, a massive, massive ask.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,477 ✭✭✭grenache

Come on Italy! I don't know why Prandelli waited so long to bring on Di Natale for Balotelli. Croatia are well worth the draw at the moment.

We'd finish above Italy because of better head to head, goal difference wont matter

No, they can still qualify if they beat Portugal by two goals and Germany beat Denmark.
