I was just wondering what people would recommend for making a good americano type coffee. At the minute I'm using a french press and freshly ground beans which makes a fairly decent cup but I'd like to try something different.

Would people recommend a chemex or a drip pot? I'm not really familiar with a lot of coffee equipment so any suggestions or tip would be appreciated!

Try an aeropress. Check brewmethods.com for videos showing it in operation.
Pick up a coava disk and hario style grinder if you can as well to compliment it.
Coffee angel, 3fe or hasbean stock them.

I use a kalita wave which I find excellent. Its very consistent, produces a clean cup and is simple to clean.

Check out videos on the kalia from Nicolas Cho. http://vimeo.com/25068779

I'm assuming you have a decent grinder?

    +1 for the Kalita brewers.
Chemex is nice if you have the space for it, but the Kalita waves/Hario V60s store away a lot easier and all produce a similar cup.

The grinder I'm using at the minute isn't great so I think I'll pick one up when I order the other stuff. Thanks for the advice, just needed a few names to look up and do some research on, it's hard enough to figure out what some equipment is used for when you're not familiar with them :o
