Awww he'll never be a sad boy with you as a Mammy. He's gonna be one happy (and slightly embarrassed) boy :)

/embarrassed cause his Dad drew a weener on his Mams card and blamed him :D

    Hold still.

Cause I'm gonna hug you now.

I just hope that if he is sad he'll tell me or his Dad, or someone.

He's going to be in a constant state of mortification at a teen though. But he will never be ill-informed!

That really terrible feeling when you realize your best friend is on boards and not only on boards, but is reporting articles on her facebook that's posted in this very ladies lounge. Sacre Bleu. I wish I knew her username or something. Unsettled ha

Thanks! I think it's only just starting to sink in now! But I am so happy and it really is such a relief!

All you can do work hard and apply everywhere I suppose! UCD don't offer placement years do they? If they do go for it! It's been one of the best years of my life doing this! And if not still apply for all the summer internships!

If I can do it you certainly can! :-)

No UCD don't offer anything like that, which IMO is a major drawback :( But I will definitely apply for summer internships after second and third year, I just didn't feel ready for one after only one year done.

Seriously well done though, I know fourth years who had no placement or training lined up for after they finished final exams, it is so competitive, and dependent on connections.
Oh fúck just remembered my final results are out on Monday

Ooooh best of luck! Have a good luck cake

And you're the lovely sharing sort, right? :)

Of course! Though I ran out of toffee and have had to make about two dozen plain. Made them extra chocolatey too... can you help?

Yea, it's a pity. It's one of Maynooth's big advantages atm espesh when they're still such a young department and degree. Apply for everything! Even just for the experience! It'll be well worth it. That was actually the reason why I decided to do this year.

I know, I've seen how hard it is! Only one person from my year (as in the year I started first year with) has been offered a contract. Out of 90!

It is so ridiculously competitive though I do think that connections are playing less of a part as they used to! In the bigger firms at least! It's all up to you now! Though I've always been a believer that connections can get you so far but in the end of the day you're the one who still has to work and prove yourself.

If you click her profile, see if she has a username after the ".com/" bit. People normally have one username for everything!

I'm yet find out someone on boards is someone I know well outside of boards that I haven't already got on my buddies list. Don't think I've anything to worry about though....

I was afraid of logging in on my official representative account here by accident and posting something outside of the "talk to" forums... :p

Thanks for the advice! You're right, I should just go for everything that catches my eye, the more experience I get, the better my CV will look :)
Yeah I hope that's the way things are going regarding connections; it's archaic and unfair on people trying to 'break into' the profession. I have smarts (I hope!), but no legal background!

Can you claim anything back from PRSI? Even the cost of your appointment?

I've just joined Twitter. I've yet to tweet anything, yet I have one follower already. A bit baffled.

I think it covers the test but none of the cost of the glasses, I got new glasses recently, they cost a fair amount but I'm happy with them.

Actually, the first pair I didn't like and when I went back I found out they had a 30 day no quibble change option, so got a completely different pair instead, it was great!

I am not emotionally stable enough for GA. It should come with a health warning.

I think you can claim the remainder of what is not cover by insurance if you have it, like with the Med 1 forms.

I have been with my optician for about 5 or so years now, my sight hasn't worsened a whole lot really but I can definitely tell the difference when I need new glasses, and so can my wallet!! I got a buy one get one free offer, so I suppose it wasn't too bad really..

When I think of kickboxing I get all sad. I did it until recently enough but managed to dislocate my arm while sparring ( I threw a punch a bit too hard, missed and dislocated my own arm at the shoulder joint). Since then I've dislocated it a further two or three times playing football so had to stop that too... Op should be in July, hopefully I can get back.. :o

Thanks for the heads up! I found a Professor Snape account, joy!

It seems pretty interesting, although I've no idea what I might actually tweet about.
