Really sorry to hear that, I hope things start to improve and get easier for him sooner rather than later. :( PM is always open if you need a chat, it's not the same thing but around this time last year my dad had a couple of heart attacks and it was a really terrifying time, even when he was out of the woods and we knew he was going to be getting better. So do feel free to vent if you need to, it really can be cathartic :) *hugs*

I'm glad your dad is alright now, that must have been so scary x
Venting is proving good, especially when it's supported by ice cream and other junk food

Anyone with dogs...is it ok to feed them mostly cooked slightly out of date sausages? Please say yes.
I wouldn't worry about it- my woof hs eaten worse things than that. Are you gonna miss the doggy when he goes back to his owners? :)
I'm working in Next for the sale in the morning :( I'm not looking forward to it!

I may attack annoying customers if they cross my path

Oh god, good luck! Please return back with stories of cat fights over pillows, stampedes to the discounted socks and other stories of drama please :)

Ah that's really sweet :) I will always, he's awesome to the max
Enjoy your house fixing up! Sounds like fun. I've always wanted a house that's a fixer upper, love the idea of it being a project

    I hate the next sales.

Now I'm a 34 inch inside leg, and only go there looking for work clothes.

So I have to root, and I hate it, I avoid it like the plague for about a week, then go in and see what's there.

No offence to the poster who works there, but I've rarely found it to reflect current stock, the M&S sale or Debenhams sales seem much better in that regard, i.e. if I am keeping an eye on a suit in Next, it rarely shows up in a sale, whereas if I am keeping an eye on Betty Jackson in Debenhams there is at least a 50% chance it's discounted.

The next sale for me is like going to TKMaxx to be honest, you might find something you like at a great price (Which has happened to me) but otherwise it's pot luck.

Anyone go to see Keith Barry tonight?
One of my friends did. Apparently one of his acts went wrong with cling film around his face and everyone was asked to leave. Parademics were on stage when they were leaving.

Tkmaxx is horrifying! I can't stand the disorganisation, same as if you go into Penneys late in the day and everything is just thrown around the place. I think I've gotten too used to the organisation of online shopping maybe.

Jeez mars bar, that sounds a bit scary, hopefully everything will be okay

TKMaxx is far better than the next sales imo :)

I tend to head in there knowing what I want and seek it out, can't do that in the Next sale, it's just a mad jumble!

Just watching the end of Million Dollar Baby have seen it loads of times, but it always makes me sad :(

Was tonight the first night of his show? If so, hopefully it was just a case of a little slip up on the first night and nothing serious

I swear if it's some sick Friday the 13th joke that he decided to play then he can feck off never to be seen again.
However, if it's genuine, I really hope he's okay. It sounds like it's genuine anyway. She said the manager was panicking and a worker had to jump down from the balcony to help him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,850 ✭✭✭FouxDaFaFa

It is odd that it happened on Friday the 13th but I don't think he would waste emergency services on a hoax. At least, I hope not.

If they weren't let back in, I'd say no stunt. No way would they be allowed to fake that without reassuring the audience! (I'd hope, anyway)

Jeez I really hope it's not a prank, not even remotely funny.

Jesus that's just scary. I just did a google search to see if he was okay and it seems it's the second time it's happened to him! http://www.irishcentral.com/ent/Irish-mentalist-Keith-Barrys-near-death-accident-as-rope-stunt-goes-horribly-wrong-127484733.html

Keith Barry's definition of entertaining often differs from mine, but surely even this would be beyond anything he'd do.

Derren Brown does a bit where he 'faints', but would never leave it unresolved.

Someone has just tweeted that a member of the audience has won 250 euro in proving Keith wrong - seems like the exact same trick went wrong again.... he should maybe rethink ever doing it again, god only knows what effect the asphyxiation is having on him...

It's one of the reasons I won't go to see his show again. It's distressing to watch, even if it (almost) never goes wrong.

That's how I see it. Searched on Twitter to see if there is any news.
    One tweet says
Nothing much, just witnessed @keithbarry suffocate himself on stage! #FridayThe13th

ye what? So you did LC at 14? Or you did a year of uni then went back to do LC?

You're like one of the children on TV :D

ye school was a bit of a waste
lets see, i was doing srs bzns maths & english before school age so eh i skipped junior and senior infants (after that they started getting concerned about socialising) and then got as far as doing my JC, took a year off, then did 6th year (5th is like totally lame maaaaan) and then uni

Oh, well after reading that article about the money, this tweet makes sense:
just nearly killed keith barry #250euroricherforit

Looks like he's okay if they're being so blasé. Must have just tied him too tight.
