France win. England will keep it tight for most of the game. Benzema to score.

    Was it Ray Clemence ?

I actually think they have a good chance. I like the team that's been picked. Ox on one side is tempered by Milner on the other, and he does have close to the best fullback in the world covering him. I also think Gerrard will be keeping an eye on making himself an easy passing option for him whenever he can.

I see them spending most of their time on the pitch like this:

    Welbeck
    Ox
    Young
    Gerrard
    Milner
    Parker

I hope Englad try to win, not certain of France breaking them down if they play for the draw

I have a feeling this is like the Spain v Italy game, the two strongest pool teams meeting in the first match. Ukraine v Sweden are very weak.

Sweden are hardly very weak. They'll be fairly dangerous in this group and will probably give both France and England a good game.

I have nothing against England, I wouldn't mind them doing well but I'm hoping for a few John Terry cock-ups.

Disappointing to see so many empty seats for 2 big countries at a major championship

4,000 English fans? Disgraceful attendance for a major final that is less than 3 hours away by plane.

    Atmosphere here is terrible.

Only that amount at the game???I thought they normally have a massive crowd like us travelling to major tournaments!

How exactly can you get to Donetsk in 3 hours?

Lots of shouts for England but people seem to forget who their manager is.

Hodgson's been a very good international manager in the past. I think he'll do a good job with England overall!

After all the threats from hooligans in Ukraine and warnings about Ukraine in general, I don't blame those who didn't go.

Saw somebody saying Sweden are stronger than Ukraine. Am I the only one who disagrees?

Nice bit of work by Welbeck there.

Glen Johnson caught too far forward already, imagine that.

Voronin and Shevchenko don't look too dangerous.

Good chance wasted by Milner,if only he had a left leg

Nice play from England, wrong person in that position though.

Oh Milner should have stuck that away, what a chance!

Oh Milner!!! Had to do a hell of a lot better there!!

Have to say, some of the injuries may turn out to be blessings in disguise. They look a bit more balanced as a team.

    Shocker from Milner, terrible.

France looking poor at the back

Cake, and grief counseling, will be available at the conclusion of the test

France starting well but Benzema needs to stay central hes doing well to mkve wide but France have nothing through the middle if he vacaties the space.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,988 ✭✭✭SirDelboy18

I would be so much more confident if Kos was in the centre.

Dan Walker has put up a stat on Twitter that France have never won a European Championship match without Platini and Zidane in the side.

Mexes is a disaster waiting to happen. Debuchy needs to get closer to Ox when he's down that side as well.

I was thinking it was in Poland, which is about 3 hours.

Yeah I agree. But 4,000 is terrible. I expected the travelling support to take a hit but jesus! I wonder where all the hard men who were running around Germany in '06 causing trouble are.

I can't believe he's in the team ahead of Koscelny

Yeah, I'm a tad surprised it's only 4K but as I said, tis understandable. If England's games were in the majority in Poland like Ireland, I'd reckon we'd have seen double the figure present there currently.

Mexes did well there. If he gets a few interceptions/tackles in he should grow in confidence.

    Still rubbish though

Mexes shouldn't be in the squad whatsoever.

    _

France are so slow getting numbers forward, afraid of the counter.
