Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I cut silage this morning and intend to bale it about 9pm this evening. Is their any point in shaking it out in rows with a hay bob this afternoon?

yes its the right thing to do depending on weather, how you re-row maybe a problem as most balers don't like working after a lumpy hay bob. Grass should be kicked out the asap after cutting unless its left the spread across the full sward and conditioned

Thanks for the reply, however the weather has dictated that it remains unshaken, great order at 3pm when i got a shower. I am hoping for a fine evening so that the bales will not be too heavy.

Just finished bringing in the bales. Never got to turn it because i got an hours rain at 3:20pm. Grass was dry when baled but bales still heavy. Also heavier crop of grass than last year. Testing soil and adding lime really paid of. I had 54 bales this year versus 32 last year. Same contractor and equipment.

Does anyone still use a Wuffler? Aul lad is threatening to buy one, I'm convinced it's purely for the novelty!

The cousins bought an ould one . I couldnt knock much rights out of it though , it breaks the stem up to help it dry out .
Probably one run straight after its cut would be enough to speed up wilting and help sqeeze more grass into a bale, but I think going over it a cuople of times breaks up the grass too much .
