Has anyone used a document scanning service and have any idea on the pricing.

We are a small business but seem to have accumulated loads of paper, invoices bank statements etc.

I want to scan these rather than keep the paper copies, I could use a flatbed scanner but it would take me days to do all the historical stuff we have.

Any one go down this route before, any idea on costs etc?

Why not take someone of the live register to do it?

We bought a sheet-feed scanner for about 700, and took on a part-timer to scan old files. They get through about 2500 pages a day, thats scanned, indexed, on to PDFs, stored on the server, and the files shredded. The scanner is 10 pages per minute, but you have to factor in indexing etc.

Advantages - you control the process from start to end, low cost ( Euros10 per hour ), you own the scanner at the end of the process, total security, ability to scan files on an ongoing basis whenever you need to.

Disadvantages - upfront cost of the scanner, space taken with the scanner, need to supervise the scanning process, scanning drags on for ages ( as opposed to someone taking the files away on day 1 and you never see them again ).

The scanner make and model is Fujitsu fi 5110 c. Before that we had a HP machine which was useless, also sheet feed, the make and model was HP scanjet 5590 so avoid that one.
