Hi I was just wondering do many on here pick up your own silage and if you do how much an acre does it cost you, if you could also say what contractors in your area are charging that would be great.

    Thanks

Don't forget labour costs, even if it is family.....to be strict about it, accountancy wise.
Do you pick it with a wagon?

Its a turbo 5000,this is our third year using it very little maintenance required other than sharpen the knives and grease it.
It will pickup up 15acres a day of heavy first cut.
500 litres of diesel mowed picked up and pitted 40 acres of first cut last year

They should last a long time as they have never been abused, theres very little to go wrong with them.

They would have been picking up very light crops compared with irish ones
