Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

OK,so a lot of people who were on about the Croats the other night said they were big men against us smallies.

An Irish team of GIANTS.....and a few others.

    GK Colin Doyle age:26 height:6'5"
    DEF John O Shea age:31 height:6'3"
    DEF Richard Dunne age:32 height:6'2"
    DEF Shane Duffy age:20 height:6'4"
    DEF Ciaran Clark age:22 height:6'2"
    MID James McClean age23 height:5'11"
    MID Marc Wilson age:24 height:6'2"
    MID David Meyler age:23 height:6'3"
    MID Aidan McGeady age:26 height:5'11"
    FOR Cillian Sheridan age:23 height:6'5"
    FOR Jon Walters age:28 height:6'0"

With this team,a friendly versus South Korea would be fun.

At least lumping the ball might work out a bit better.

We're crying out for Folan tbh. :)

Anybody for an Ireland team with players with only one vowel in their name? Because thats probably got as much relevance to anything...

Actually not a bad side either. Plenty of potential quality in there. Leon Best for Sheridan.

Well in fairness,a physically taller/stronger team are more intimidating/threatining from the go.More aerial threat, smaller players being outmuscled etc.At times I think our team is just too small/low sized.

If a player's physicality results in them being a better player, great. If not, they are of no extra use.

Unless it's Spain, in which case all bets are off.

A worthy effort, but we were simply outplayed by a technically superior team.

It would have zero difference had he had a team of Paul O'Connells out there on Sunday.

    Roll on Thursday :)

You don't need tall players all over the pitch but Ireland do look notably shorter than some of the traditionally taller teams (eg Germany, Croatia). Ironic considering we're trying to actually be a 'physical' side. I think a bit of extra height wouldn't go amiss (provided the players are actually good).

TBF South Koreans are the tallest Asians, taller than most European nations.

They are probably as tall as us Irish and arguably more skillful, so a "giant" Irish team versus a normal sized Korean team would probably be a lot more fun for the Koreans.

McGeadys not 5"11 more like 5"9.
