    Hi All,
I am still looking for info on my stolen 3.0 Capri Ghia. It is silver in colour witha black vinyl roof. It has a very distinctive red interior and real wood dash. The car was stolen from the Clarina area of limerick a little over a year ago. This isnot an easy car to make disappear so it must be around. Its reg is B787 MAN and i still have the log book. I would be happy to receive some information for its recovery.

To be honest if it is missing for a year and hasn't been spotted then chances are it was either put on a ferry or broken for parts. I'd imagine demand for this type of car or it's parts would be strong in the UK.

It probably belongs to some criminal in England at this stage. If someone stole a relatively rare car they wouldn't keep it around the area they stole it from.

I hear ya Bazz. You are probably right .something tells me it went for parts. I will keep looking coz even some of the bits are rare so i will know them if i see them. Especially the interior. I have never seen another like it and im looking at capris a lot of years. Thanks.

Sorry your car never turned up. Your best bet is to look in all the UK small ads i.e autotrader, craigs list etc. I'd say your car was stolen purely for parts, as they are sought after in the UK and easy to transport on a ferry. Have you tried contacting the Capri clubs in the UK? They can often help you identify the location of various very specialised car parts.

Did you try the likes of hegartys?
Heard of a few classics being stolen and ending up scrapped in their yard?

Thanks for all your suggestions. I never thought of the UK option to be honest. I spoke to the capri club of ireland and also to the scrap sites in Limerick. It definitely never turned up in scrap but i would say it was stripped for parts or re shelled as the underside of my car was badly holed and needed welding. It was taken on the back of a truck for sure as the gearbox was an auto. sickened .

Bloody shame about your car. I think a lot of folk of a certain age had the Capri as the first car that made them go wow, or fell in love with it through watching the likes of the Professionals when they were kids as the Ghia was the model used in the show.

I would agree with those in the thread that said it may have been taken for parts, as I would hazard a guess that of all the Capri made, the 3.0 Ghia is the most iconic and sought after thanks to the tv show. Does not help that your car sounds very close in look/colour to Bodie's car (save for the black roof).

There are loads of Capri clubs in the UK, but maybe you should try to contact Capri Club International to tell them what happened, and give them details/pics of your car. Pretty much every Capri club in the UK fall under the Capri Club International banner, and they would be able to pass on the pics to all the different clubs.

Thanks everyone. The Capri is a rare one as the MKIII 3.0 Ghia was only made for two years and in small numbers. Mine had the original sharp radio cassette which was an extra and the red leather interior in a silver and black car was also very unusual. i was aksed a few years ago if it could be used in a movie but it was in for restoration at the time. It is a one owner car and was from the isle of man. Originally bought by a lady in 1979 it was brought to ireland in 2001 i believe. now some bollox has nicked it.

Might be no harm to put a few pics of it up on here either just in case. The Ghia model will stand out to anyone who knows the various capri models (the round lights of the mk III being an obvious giveaway even to a casual car lover) but most might not know what to look for.

I hope that whatever scrote took it ended up with no luck. Have a few cars that are project/collector cars as well as others over the years and I would be out for blood if anyone took one of them.
