Friend's new PC, HDD problems.

    So today we built my friends new PC, everything is working fine except this one simple yet annoying thing.

    The harddrive seems to be slow/not working. When you install a program the system will either crash midway through or it will install the program and not run it properly.

    We've tried reinstalling the OS, check the sata ports and even tried booting in safe mode. Is there a chance that the HDD could be faulty?

    This is the model of it and the motherboard that he's using.

    Samsung SpinPoint F3 1000GB, SATA II

    That's the motherboard(in case it may not be compatible).

    did you try a different sata cable? dealt with that plenty of times on new builds alwaysed been a simple case of a faulty cable so far

    I'll try that when I go back over tomorrow, he only got the one SATA cable with the case. A black one.
