Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Importing Arrows

    Hello all,
I'm on holiday in Australia at the moment, and I was in a sporting goods store the other day and saw that they had archery supplies. I don't know of any shops in Ireland that sell archery supplies, and I'm just getting into the sport tbh, so:
Is $4.50 (AUD) a good price per wooden arrow, and is $11.50 a good price per aluminium arrow? They seem to be pretty decent quality.
Would there be any legal issues to simply sending them to my house in the post, or bringing them back in my luggage? My dad thinks that it might legally be considered importing ammunition, although I don't know if there's any validity to that.
Also, while the wooden arrows have the standard target tips, the aluminium arrows are quite sharp, so they are probably meant for hunting. I'm assuming these would be illegal in Ireland, but I thought I may as well ask.
Thanks in advance for any help.

These are the main suppliers of Archery gear in Ireland. I get 99% of my Archery stuff from Merlin Archery in the UK. http://www.merlinarcherycentre.co.uk/

Non of the arrows or points you mentioned in your post are illegal in Ireland. I use Field points on all my carbon arrows, and these are VERY sharp.

    Hope this helps.

I have joined the sport recently and did a lot of pricing research between the local store mentioned above and the online retailers in the US and the UK.

The local stores are competitively priced and by the time you factor in shipping they are either the same or slightly cheaper. Plus they will source pretty much anything you need.

Plus if you have a problem with the gear later you can drive down to the store and not the post office.
