Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi folks,

    I'd like some advice please.

I have recently developed a new wordpress based news website which we schedule news to go live at certain points during the day. I have looked at several options for submitting these posts to Facebook and Twitter but am uncertain which is best.

Basically what I would like is for the news article to be published to our Facebook page and Twitter account immediately when it goes live on our website. On facebook I would like it to include the title, featured image and start of the body text.

On Twitter, I would like the article title, shortened link and a custom hash tag for each category on the site. EG: #football #golf #tennis etc

Any advice or help would be very much appreciated.

They both have APIs. Would be easy to script it up to post on upload.

Google twitter api and facebook api.

    This should also help:

    http://wordpress.org/support/topic/publicize-plugin
    http://www.wpmods.com/6-plugins-publicize-posts-to-social-networks/
    http://wpmu.org/promote-your-blog-wordpress-plugins/

If your requirements are very specific you'll need to get coding though. Remember, all WP hosted plugins are open source, so you can always hack one and make your own plugin.

I use from time to time:

    http://www.twitterfeed.com

Find it pretty ok, its little limited with the number of posts you can post. But for my requirements its just dandy. There is Bit.Ly integration so you can track links etc.

    Hi folks,

I have recently developed a new wordpress based news website which we schedule news to go live at certain points during the day. I have looked at several options for submitting these posts to Facebook and Twitter but am uncertain which is best.

If that's all you wanted it would be handy enough. You can take WordPress' RSS feed and use a 3rd party service like Dlvr.it to distribute your posts to Facebook, Twitter and a number of other sites. It does a good job of formatting the post for the relevant destination and shortens links automatically.
On Twitter, I would like the article title, shortened link and a custom hash tag for each category on the site. EG: #football #golf #tennis etc

Adding hashtags that are based on a category isn't something you can do with Dlvr.it afaik. Probably going to need to go down the road of something custom, so I guess the question you need to ask yourself might be how important is that feature to you in euros?
