Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

i dont think that's true any more. international football isn't nearly as important as it used to be, let's be honest. the peak of the game is the top level of club football, not the international game any more

Can still show some passion though.
It's not about how good your teammates are, at international level, but how good you can be as a unit.
    Look at the Dutch Lol

Now we know why Paul Green doesn't have a team :(

You'd think the Spanish would be a bit sympathetic. This is cruel :(

Is it like boxing? Can we throw in the towel?

I think people thought we are better than we are.

The general idea being beat the Croats, draw with the Spanish, beat the Italians?
    People were dreaming.

Spain are number one for a reason, I think we did well given the squad we have.

We play the English style of game, which is akin to Rugby style, where field position means more than possession.

Fair play to the lads over there. Good effort.

To be honest, this thread sums up why nearly everybody in this country supports top Premiership teams.

The idea of supporting a crap team against a good team and knowing you're going to get hammered seems alien to some of us. The embarassing and pathetic descriptions aswell as the abuse directed at some of our players is much more fitting of the embarassing and pathetic tags.

Hey, I support Bolton. I should be used to losing by now!

i support everton so used to it

They're worn down. This is what happens to teams against this style..

maybe, maybe not. can't blame anyone who's not bothered with it to be honest. an injury at an international tournament could end your career. imo it's not surprising many international players aren't that bothered about it

I think you will find people expect more passion playing for your country over club, but what we see, is the exact opposite.
Green shirt means nothing nowadays :)
There has been no lack of passion, simply a lack of the players and a lack of a decent tactical plan to deal with our lack of ability.

As if supporters of crap teams never have a rant and a moan...
They might do, but I don't think the likes of Almeria resort to the same level when they get tonked by Barcelona/Real.

people are well aware of the disparate levels of ability between the 2 sides.

if you are happy with simply being at a tournament and getting hockeyed then I think it says alot about your ambitions.

No well reasoned fan expects us to pull up many trees but if you are happy with that effort then fair play to you.

For the record, ive seen supposed lower ranked sides put up more fight against Spain then we have.
I'm not happy, but I can't do anything about the gigantic gap between us and Spain. I'm able to be unhappy without scapegoating or being abusive to people who don't deserve the abuse.

We just don't have the players to give the likes of Spain a match. They beat us easily in 2nd gear.

So will the 'kool aid brigade' who pre-tournament labelled the posters pre-tournament with valid concerns 'whingers', 'moaners', and sometimes more choice words man up and apologise?

    Somehow, I suspect not.

Why do international managers get offered extensions too their contracts before tournanments? Thats what they get hired to get the teams too.

There was no effort they ran around like headless chickens incapable of passing a ball its all well and good trying to stay upbeat and high five the players but ever single thing about this team has been a disaster from the system to the players picked to how lack luster the performance of individuals has been

I have been a staunch supporter of Trap for the past couple of years. But once I saw Paul Green come on when we were 3-0 down I have to say I handed in my Trap cards. Clueless. Giving someone a sympathy cap when goals were needed is unforgivable. Lost for words
