Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'm a bit of a tea collector myself, I've tea from the four corners of the world. Day to day I'm happy enough with Lyons. I got some of the cheap stuff for a taste test and it was like liquid styrofoam.

tesco premium is my brand for the last year, i had them in a friends house and liked them but you do get a few funny looks when you take out the box. there are some real tea snobs out there

I dont drink tea.....I drink gin

    Twining's Earl Grey.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 324 ✭✭cranks

The Aldi ones in the red box that won the best tea in the world award (or something). A very good, refreshing brew without the mad tannins of Lyons

Whatever is on special offer in Tesco. I like very strong tea. At the moment its McGraths from Aldi which isn't bad. As a treat, I will have some Twinnings Earl Grey which is lovely to drink.

Taylor's of Harrogate Yorkshire tea (if you can find it)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,160 ✭✭✭Eurovisionmad

Barrys, (in fairness I'm Corkonian) I find Lyons very bitter, Barrys has a rich quality to it.

I used to always drink Lyons tea as thats whats at home. Until I moved to cork and didn't have mammy buying the tea. I now drink and love Barry's tea. Barry's gold blend, YUM.

Lyons, Barries, Tetleys. They're all good, and there isnt much difference between them. Also you HAVE to brew for at least 5 minutes before you're opinion on teabag flavours will be accepted :p

Marks and Spencer Gold Blend - a mighty brew.
A close second would be Vandriver's Harrogate Yorkshire tea. Love my tea strong and black, none of that oul milky baby tea for me

Good God lads, whatever happened to normal answers? If Carlsberg did tea's they'd do.....

Yes you're dead right - it has an amazing flavour; I used to drink this when I lived in the UK but the price of it in Tesco scared me

Slightly off topic but I remember my father who is many years departed used to make tea strong enough to strip paint. We had an aluminium tea pot in which he put in 6 tea bags (he eventually switched from tea leafs after many years of persuasion) and very very boiling water. The tea pot was then put back on the gas to boil for at least another 5 minutes. Anything less fermented was referred to as "Parnell's poolie".

The fairtrade ones from Lidl make a lovely cup but their 'Fallons' ones are ick!

Yesterday I felt ruthless so in Dunnes I bought a brand simply called 'D',
    yes D.
D meaning to sound like T :) says on the box "I could do with a D!"
Well I can highly recommend them to everyone - THE best tasting tea in a very very long time.
They are made by Typhoo surprisingly, which I've always hated.

Green box. €1.10 for 80. Happy days.

    Proper order!
Any tea drinker worth his/her salt knows what's right as far a tea is concerned and nothing less will do. Everyone else can fcuk off - they're just wrong.:D

Bewley's Gold Blend is the only tea for me. I live in Canada and have to buy it from specialty stores - $10:00 for a bag of 80 - but it's bloody worth it.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,199 ✭✭✭Shryke

If you're not going to drink strong tea then don't bother. Tea isn't even a strong drink.

Barrys gold blend! I get it sent to Canada :D

aldi mcgraths reserve, love the stuff! lyons kenya blend and twinings earl gray are an expensive treat!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,128 ✭✭✭✭aaronjumper

Not overly fussy, any of the popular brands. The less heard of ones, in my experience, are quite weak.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,725 ✭✭✭charlemont

    Dunnes Stores 80 tea bags..

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 31,859 ✭✭✭✭Sharpshooter

Lyons Gold Blend was a fav of mine for a long time, but once I tried Tetley extra strong there was no going back.

You say it like you're ashamed or something. I've tried them they're not bad.
    Not great but not bad.

Yeah strong tea is very nice, once you sample it, it's very hard to go back.
