Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I suppose. Who was playing 6 and 2 for Micahels yesterday do you know ? It's just very tough to call the cup when Michaels and Terenure haven't played their full teams yet. Time will tell

6 was James Ryan and 2 was either Eoin O Neil or Nick Quane, not sure who was playing 2 or 3 but they were the two props anyway.

Thought they'd be "Saving" James Ryan for the cup...:)

For a Clongowes boy you sure do show alot of man love for 'Michaels..:D Terenure played pretty much their full team against 'Rock in fairness and were only missing their injured out half.
I was in St. Michaels for 3 years before I went to Clongowes in 1st year. Always keep my eye on Michaels, especially since I rarely get the chance to go down to Clongowes and watch them play. Who's the Terenure out half ?

I imagine it's stephen o'neill, broke his ankle during the 19s interpros

Ah right fair enough. Stephen O'Neill is the Terenure OH. He's really an outside centre IMO but played there last year. Broke his ankle for Leinster U19's back in September. Due back soon.

Don't know what I was saying there, meant to say 1 and 3, didn't know who the hooker was but yeah it was Allen.

Ryan and Deegan(no. 8) were both 4th years in the pack. O Meara and Duggan were in the back line. Richie Allen is a 6th year I believe.

Is Conor Duffy not playing hooker for Michaels this year? Saw him playing for U19's at an Interpro warm up game in the summer against Connacht in Kildare RFC.

Ryan is a giant for a boy in 4th year. Allen and Moloney are big units as well. Michaels certainly have the size advantage over Rock and Clongowes, not sure what Terenure's pack is like.

  • Registered Users Posts: 91 ✭✭FatFosi12

Nures pack is big. Craig Trenier, Rob Moore, Rob Somerville, and then they're complimented by Paddy Thornton who is excellent around the park and Mike Murphy is a grafter at 4. Dave Doyle hopefully has calmed down as a player, scored a good try against Rock last year then was only on the pitch a minute against Gonzaga before he got binned.

Who would be the top 5 players playing in the cup this year?

Rob Moore? Think you might be mistaken there, maybe you mean rob lawlor who is a tank! They also have borza too

Wonder will he displace Murphy-who played last year-at second row? He is certainly a bigger unit than Murphy.

Borza was good in his junior years and this will be his 3rd senior campaign but he looks very unfit this season.

Well the competition is definately on for the two second row spots, id say somerville will get one, he played 5 last year with a sixth year whose name i just cant recall now, but Lawlor could take the other spot, not sure why murphy wasnt playing last week, he didnt look to be injured

Who is playing 12 for Terenure ?

  • Registered Users Posts: 91 ✭✭FatFosi12

Is it Colin Jones? He was incredible in the cup last year.

    Harrison Brewer

No he's left and is overage anyway.

  • Registered Users Posts: 91 ✭✭FatFosi12

I do remember him being excellent. Scored tries in every round didn't he? So while O'Neill is sidelined, who is playing in the 13 jersey? A centre partnership of Dardis and Brewer would be potent to watch.

No Jones didn't score in the semi's. No idea who is playing 13 right now. Dardis could possibly play OH if needs be(he played there for Newbridge juniors) but I would be majorly surprised if he lined out in the cup anywhere else but full back..

  • Registered Users Posts: 46 charliemant

    Any junior cup results?

  • Registered Users Posts: 91 ✭✭FatFosi12

Ah yes you're right. Apparently he's naturally a 10, but they have Gary Clarkin as a potential 10 if they need him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 394 ✭✭schools rugby

Found out lads, this is their first choice backline now : Schmit, Jake Swaine, Robbie Carroll, Brewer at 13, Tom O'Brien Dardis and Madigan

Pretty sure the game's I have seen this year that Brewer has been playing 12 plus he played there for Leinster this season. With O'Neill to come back that's the most potent backline in the competition IMO.

  • Registered Users Posts: 394 ✭✭schools rugby

Maybe he is at 12.. I think they may be too heavily reliant on Brewer though. Have they got a 10 that can control the game and kick corners when needed?

Fergal Cleary outside Brewer was an excellent partnership this year. He's going to be excellent for Clongowes in the Cup.

  • Registered Users Posts: 91 ✭✭FatFosi12

Also, I remember a lot of talk about Sean Moran, the CCR prop forward, from last year. By chance I saw him today playing for IT Carlow in a JP Fanagan Pennant game against UCD in Belfield. Must be on a scholarship down there! Some impressive lads for UCD I must say, just hope that they're considered for Leinster 20's if any of them are eligible.

I hear from a reliable source he's going to a Championship side in England for a trial. Great to see talent getting an opportunity

    what players did you notice?

  • Registered Users Posts: 91 ✭✭FatFosi12

Number 8, didn't catch his name, very solid and powerful. And the second row, number 5, he ran the lineout very well and was good round the park too, quite skilled now that I think of it. And the backline were good overall, few great touches by Inside Centre. They made hard work of a fairly poor Carlow side though.

  • Registered Users Posts: 91 ✭✭FatFosi12

Rotherham Titans to be precise, big Irish connections over there. Shane Cahill from Rock SCT few years back is there and playing very well from what I hear.

The 5 is Shane Grannell isn't it? Far too old for under 20s if so.

  • Registered Users Posts: 91 ✭✭FatFosi12

No no, Grannell is playing number 8 currently for the UCD AIL team and has been moving around positions 4/6/8.
