The sixteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter launches next month as welterweight fighters battle for the lucrative six figure contract. Today the 32 fighters that are to fight it out for the title of The Ultimate Fighter were named.

The sixteenth season of the reality TV show begins 14th September and will be shown every Friday on FX for thirteen weeks. Unlike the previous season of the contest this season is pre-recorded and will not feature any live fights until the season finale which takes place 16th December.

The cast features fighters from all different experience levels and ages and features twenty-nine Americans, two Canadians and one Brazilian.

A number of “big show” veterans have also made the official list of TUF 16 competitors and include Bellator veteran Sam Alvey, Strikeforce veterans Cortez Coleman, Ricky Legere Jr, Saad Awad and Eddy Ellis. An M-1 veteran in Igor Araujo and an IFL vet in Bristol Marunde also made the grade.

The Ultimate Fighter season 16 will be coached by heavyweight Roy Nelson and Shane Carwin who will also fight at the season finale.
