Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Pretty nasty thing to do by Becks kicking the ball but he was accurate!

I know Cleverley is already first team, but he has yet to play enough games to properly prove himself.

He didn't say that. He said they were future options.

No, to talk about them as the future as if its a certaintly would be overoptimistic.

To talk about options, potential for the future is more than reasonable. They wouldn't be at the club if they didn't have the potential to become the future.

It's 8pm local time, 2pm over here afaik.

Always thought www.manutd.com gave the times as local time (UK time I mean I mean).

Twitter reports are saying that Lucas moura's (agent/father) is arriving in England tomorrow, He says it is to accompany the Olympic squad,

Always thought www.manutd.com gave the times as local time (UK time I mean I mean).

China are currently 7 hours ahead, and manutd.com states the game is at 20.00.

So it's gotta be local time, unless they're kicking off at 3am in Shanghai!!!!! Like MagicMarker said, it's a 1pm kick off for us!

The times look local for the 2 previous games anyway

Isn't South Africa only 1 hour ahead or something though?

Ya, and it's listed here as being 1 hour ahead of kick-off Irish time.

Wasn't it someone on Twitter (I know, I know) said that this guy is Mascherano-esque?

No thanks. Give me a bit more of an all-rounder

We have Carrick, it's Scholes we have to replace.

In Anderson, Carrick, Cleveley, Powell we have allrounders imo, mainly more attacking but all comfortable enough getting up and down. What we lack is a defensive player to give Carrick a break from it, imo.

I can't say I've seen the lad play but the Mascherano comparison could have come about as a result of him being small, Argentinian and having played for River Plate (as did Mascherano).

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,219 ✭✭✭✭Pro. F

    Here's two videos of him:

I like those types of vids where they try to show the whole of what the player does, rather than just the forward passes and goals.

Looks kind of good from that very limited bit of footage. Can't find any River Plate or Argentina U20 games to torrent though and Argentina aren't at the Olympics unfortunately.

just chatting to a lad from our Italian team at work, (he is a Juve fan) about Pogba and he is adament that nothing official has been done as regards him signing for the Club. he is not listed anywhere on their squads.

funniest part of the converstion was him saying to me "i think he will play in the second team anyway if he does sign"....:D which will be some shock for him.

has anybody seen anything to confirm it apart form Fergie saying it a few weeks back?

There were reports in Italy that said the clubs had agreed a fee, that might have been holding up the official signing? Probably not though.

The fee agreed was apparently 800,000.

Nothing official from Juve yet though.

Yeah it was funny at the time alright, think he got a fine aswell as a suspension for it!

What was Becks problem anyways? He needs to shave that fur from under his nose.

A guy pm'ed me about this last night, think the reports are coming from the Mirror, would be interesting alright, young guy, I would personally not put him ahead of a couple of other young guys in South America (position wise) but I'm not a well paid scout :)

He holds an Italian passport iirc so a work permit would be no problem afaik. That could be important because he has not been capped at senior level yet.

Ahh, wonder why they don't bring in the stopped clock rugby style for injuries in soccer.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 25,953 ✭✭✭✭kryogen

Pro F, he was at the under 21 WC, you might be able to find some footafe from that

Rumours of 32k a week for Moura, savings of 39 million over the 5 years compared to Hazard.

Also there's 2 more spots for over 21s in the squad.

That would make football matches very long indeed. The ball is only usually in play about twenty to twenty five minutes per half!

I said injuries ;) The clock doesn't stop when the ball goes out of play in rugby.

I know, there will still be oodles of added time for all the play acting etc though.

play acting would be deemed as injury though? :) So just stop the clock when players go down.

Remember reading a while back people were trying to get the timing changed in football. the ball going dead would result in the clock being stopped - but that 30minutes would be the 'playing' time per half, which would work out the same time as a normal game.

The main issues seemed to be TV related, in that halftimes and full times couldn't be as well tied to a time - but I don't think it would change all that much.

It would also solve the 'Fergie-time' issue people have (despite it being balls)

There are times when I think a thread called "Man Utd the Conspiracy Theories" should be formed so you get the haters into one small forum and let them fire away.

Cracking shot though. He's been in quite a few scuffles this year, got into a row with some toronto fans, and when he was in Vancouver last week he was riling up the crowd with his gestures all game. Although the Canadian fans just don't know how to give abuse, the best I heard was people shouting "victoria" over and over. Mindless. He's not able to run at all.

Anyway back to moura, does anyone else think this could just be talk/leaks from the club to deflect the ipo? If they don't sign at least one of their targets by the end of the transfer window it'll prove that the glaziers are tightening the purse. Squabbling over a couple of million on a number of deals, for players that'll put us back in contention with man city and Chelsea. The timing of these leaks just after the bad news from the ipo is very suspect imo

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 19,412 ✭✭✭✭Liam O

Been thinking about the timing thing recently. Can't understand why the clock doesn't stop after goals. I can make arguments for every other situation but after a goal there is sometimes a minute or 2 when the ball isn't or can't be in play due to players having to take up their positions. I wouldn't mind the clock being stopped for that at all.

What has put us out of contention with these 2?

Even if we were I dont think Moura would be the answer to it

Ezequiel Adrián Cirigliano (born 24 January 1992) is an Argentine football midfielder who plays for River Plate in the Argentine Primera División.

At the risk of sounding ever so slightly racist. No Argentinians, please.

    Messi is an exception.

nope - no official confirmation. Turkish Airlines have him, Park and an injured Smalling in their splash for their competition.

He's gone. No idea why Juve haven't announce it yet, i expect as they are trying to figure out who to farm him out to.
