Grant: Independent or Dependant Mature Student?

    Just a quick question- wondering if anyone could help!
    I am applying for a student grant (I doubt I'm entitled to one but might as well try!) and need to specify if I am a dependent or independent mature student.
    I work full time, own my house and am single, so the only mortgage holder.

    However, my mother moved in with me last year as she is not working at the moment and was only renting somewhere. She is dependent on me financially, not the other way around- but I am still obviously technically, living under the same roof as a parent. So do I say I am a dependent or independent mature student? I don't want to assume one way or the other and seem like I have given any misinformationn or lied on the application! Or how do I find out where I stand? Do I count as 'independent' since I am living in my own house, not a house owned by a parent or in their name? :confused:

    Anyone with advice or who can point me in the right direction? I'll be very grateful. :)

    your independent, id say. You have enough proof that you live on your own. Mother seems like a informal agreement so technically she doesn't live there and no way for anyone to prove she does live with you.

    Yep- you're right. Had it confirmed with the grant people by email. :)
